"near" bust doesnt = bust. He had a lump of woes in Oakland. A 3 year stretch of injuries and stark decline in his play. He never hit the peak people expected until he hit GB. You guys are forgetting how easily ESPN and others throw around "great" and "bust".

I still say he was never even considered a bust or "near" bust at anytime in his career. He did have an injury stretch as you said but when he played he was still a force as much as any CB at the time. I do agree the Packers utilized him to his full potential and put him in a great scheme that he fit well in.

Champ Bailey and Aenas Williams make stronger cases for the HOF than Woodson does IMO. Only truly elite years were in GB.

Rondes an interesting case because of his utter lack of M2M time and only value in Tampa 2. Id have to think a bit to name a CB who was elite who played zone 95% of the time.

Woodson has 3 more INTs, 14 more sacks, 8 more defensive TDs, 22 more FFs, 5 more FRs, and 39 more tackles.

Champ was the better coverage corner, but I don't see anyway that Champ is even close to being a stronger case at the HoF.

Baileys career was a top end M2M guy for a decade. Woodsons career had alot of dips and wasted time in Oakland. His GB time was stellar and HOF caliber but there seems to be a short memory on his Oakland time. Bailey was a prototype player and a model of consistency throughout his career.

Woodson vs Bailey is an interesting debate, but I think common consensus was that Bailey was better. Bailey is a first ballot HOFer, but I can see the back end of Woodson's Oakland career hurting him. I think Woodson is a HOFer, but he is going to have to wait.
