For my first list, I have a previously posted Top 10 of Albums from the 2000's.

10. Take Off Your Pants and Jacket - Blink 182

Everyone from the ages of 10-30 knows just how influential Blink 182 was on the music scene in the late 90's and early 2000's. Smash hits such as "First Date" and "The Rock Show" propelled the album to the top of the charts, but it was the rest of the production that created it's place in my heart. From start to finish, there are few songs that you want to skip. A very solid album from a then very solid band.

9. Common - Be

With production from Kanye West, Common was able to finally breakout into the popular spotlight. "Be (Intro)" sets the tone for the whole album, with a jazz feel reminiscent of Miles Davis. Features including Kanye West, John Mayer, and John Legend also contribute to the success and smooth sound of one of the best Hip Hop Albums in recent memory.

8. MF DOOM - MM...Food

MF DOOM has become the champion of the underground and off-beat Hip Hop scene, and his first wide scale release, MM...Food did not disappoint. With rhymes about Comic books, science fiction, and smoking weed, Doom cemented himself in the youth culture of the 2000's.

7. The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions - Seu Jorge

Many in the US don't know who Seu Jorge is, but in Brazil he is a fairly popular artist. He burst onto the scene of many Indie and Stoner scenes after his appearance in The Life Aquatic, a 2004 Wes Anderson film. And let's be honest, is there anything better than Portuguese and David Bowie mixed together?

6.) Into the Wild OST - Eddie Vedder

After Pearl Jam fell off the face of the earth in every aspect outside of live performance in the 2000's, Vedder showed his more mature side on this solo written and performed soundtrack. Ditching the grunge sound, Vedder cleverly uses the Acoustic guitar as well as many other more exotic instruments to create the powerful folk sound that this album emits.

5.) The College Dropout - Kanye West

We all know the downfalls of Kanye in recent years, but this freshman debut showed a sign of Kanye that is now long gone. It is clear of his gratitude for his then newfound success, despite still showing a confidence that makes the album come off so well. Despite lacking in a show stopping rap flow, his writing, production, and Grade A features (Jay-Z, Mos Def, Talib Kweli) make up for that ten fold.

4.) Kid A - Radiohead

Changing their sound from the 90's Indie Rock to a more electronic 2000's style, Kid A exemplifies the versatililty of Radiohead that has garnered them such a strong following. "Everything In It's Right Place" and "Kid A" set the tone for one of the top rock albums of all time.

3.) Madvillainy - Madvilllain

One of the best Hip Hop collaborations of all-time, Madlib and MF DOOM came together to re-difne what it meant to collab within the Hip Hop industry. By allowing DOOM to focus almost solely on the lyrics while Madlib killed on the production, very clean and polished comic-esque sound was produced. Due to the short length of the tracks, I deem this album the ADD Dream.

2.) Deltron 3030 - Deltron

Another Collaboration between two great Hip Hop minds, Del Tha Funkee Homosapien and Dan the Automator, this album is the re-definition of a concept album. One of the first solely Hip Hop concept albums, with a motion picture theme of a dystopian 31st Century, Deltron 3030 rests in a special place in Hip Hop's History.

1.) Tie: Late Registration - Kanye West, Illinoise - Sufjan Stevens

Late Registration is easily the prime of Kanye West, combining Motion Picture production, with the help of Hollywood Producer Jon Brion, and refined writing skills allowed Kanye to show the true power and importance of production. With a more serious tone, he was able to create perhaps the best Hip Hop album of all time, cue Kanye interruption.

Illinoise is quite simply the perfect Indie album. Combining components from Classical symphonies, Baptist Church Choirs, and Folk Rock elements, it is easy to see why many consider Sufjan to be an Indie Genious. Even though his 50 States Project is now defunct, this album will forever leave us wondering what could have been.

10.) Band on the Run - Wings

Post-Beatles McCartney has always interested me much more than his earlier counterpart (pun intended since some think they are different people). This is perhaps the best song from McCartney's Wing's period, topping even "Live and Let Die". Combining a very wide range of instruments ranging from synth to trombone and back the electric guitar, the first half of this track splits from a surreal odyssey into an upbeat pop ballad that never gets old.

9.) Don't Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty

Some say that Tom Petty came too late to the Classic Rock party, but I say fuck you. Petty impresses by combining both surprising lyrical and instrumental depth, all of which was done while super high. The man is a true champion of dispelling the myth that Pot Heads can't be motivated and he he holds a special place in my heart because of it. (Well strike your appearance in The Postman from the record)

8.) Have A Cigar - Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd stands out to many as that band you like from 13-16 because they are your introductory course to Rock and Roll. Unfortunately most listeners never make it past the great, yet overrated Dark Side of the Moon. Wish You Were Here was released in 1975, containing only 5 tracks, but they are 5 of the bands greatest tracks released on any of their albums. Have A Cigar provides the hard rock aspects that Zeppelin fans look for, while also maintaining the characteristic PF conceptualism in the underlying instrumentals.

7.) Who Are You - The Who

Some consider this album, of the same name, one of the Who's wost, but this particular track shows just how powerful the synth would become in music during the following decades. Plus Townshend and Moon are no slouches on their respective guitar and drums. I am even fonder of this video, showing tht the aging rockers still let loose to have fun. (hopefully that continues at the super bowl)

6.) The Times They Are a-Changing - Bob Dylan

The title track from Watchmen is one of the few Dylan songs I can stand to listen to anymore. Sure he can write, but his voice is not easy on the ears. Thankfully the folk sound of this song still allows the rock elements to shine through. The voice of the 60's, Dylan still remains one of the biggest names and tickets in Folk/Classic Rock.

5.) Over the Hills and Far Away - Led Zeppelin

There is no one who can deny the power of Zeppelin. The holy trinity of rock took the world by storm with their blues influenced sound. If I had a nickel for every time I listened to this particular track, I wouldn't have to pay for college. Wait for the outro, one of the best you'll ever hear in music.

4.) Lola - The Kinks

This is a song that even Nuk can get behind. Lyrics about dancing with a tranny all night combined with hard rock? Great track that will live on in infamy for many decades to come.

3.) Pinball Wizard - The Who

From Soho down to Brighton, this song is still popular, how could a mantra about a deaf and dumb Pinball player not be? Whereas Who Are You was coming on the decline of the career of the Who, Pinball Wizard highlights the pinnacle of their abilities.

2.) Little Wing - Jimi Hendrix

Short but to the point, this song innovated a sound that has produced some of the greatest songs of Rock, influencing Pearl Jam's "Yellow Ledbetter" as well as "Under the Bridge" by RHCP. No one will deny that Hendrix could rock, but the man seems superhuman.

1.) Foreplay/Long Time - Boston

Did you expect the Beatles here? Perhaps the Stones? No. You get the greatest rock song ever created, and it comes from Boston. More Than A Feeling might be a hit with bitchy Scrubs fans, but find me another song that can even come close to competing with these instrumentals. Split into an instrumental prelude and a second half brain melt, Foreplay/Long Time is a song so musically complex that you hear something new on every listen.​

good list of rock songs all but the Zeppelin choice. I have no respect for the biggest thieves in music history but otherwise very solid list. Also would argue that on any list Hendrix should never finish second to Boston...lol...

They probably attacked the Pentagon too.

I listened to Take Off Your Pants and Jacket probably 1 million times as a kid. I fucking love that album.

Also, you received triple thanks based solely on the fact that you put the Into the Wild Soundtrack by Eddie Vedder up there. Great fucking album.

We discussed this in the CB, but the Classic Rock is notably lacking some material from The Band. I would go with Up on Cripple Creek or The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, but The Weight is a solid nomination.

Top 10 Current TV Shows

10.) Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations - Travel Channel

Sometimes a bit too preachy for my liking, No Reservations does provide something that I find very interesting, Tony's ability to go to any country in the world and get piss drunk. Sure the show is supposed to be about exposing viewers to new cultures, but somewhere along the lines, Tony always ends up in some small restaurant getting drunk off of hard liquor and smoking a pack of cigarettes.

9.) The Universe - History Channel

Unlike the previous show, The Universe never strays off topic, highlighting various topics from black holes to planet formation. Showcasing a wide array of top level physicists and astronomers such as my personal favorite Michio Kaku, the show is always interesting and has some stunning visuals in HD.

8.) Heroes - NBC

The first season of this show is the sole reason for it's rating, as the last few years have been utterly terrible. What once contained a great story is now dragged down by the horrid acting of Hayden and her real life guido boyfriend. A show that was once shrouded in mystery and the ever lovable comic setup is now just another serial drama on NBC.

7.) House M.D. - Fox

House is a pretty good show if you watch an episode, with both witty humor and seriousness from Hugh Laurie and his sexual tensions with the female characters. Unfortunately every episode is basically the same, random disease appears, House & Co. struggle to cure them, House devises some miraculous cure at the last second. Still a very good show.

6.) Entourage - HBO

Hot chicks, funny situations, and of course Johnny Drama. The show is quintessential for the 18-34 demographic and the antics of Vinny Chase and his friends never disappoint. VICTORY!

5.) LOST - ABC

JJ Abrams sure does know how to make the viewing audience always keep asking questions. In fact, I'm certain there is still a good portion of Season 1 that I am still waiting to be resolved. Still the show blends Sci-Fi, Mystery, Drama, and Romance into a weekly Tour de Force.

4.) Friday Night Lights - NBC/Direct TV

Who doesn't like hot chicks and football? There is a reason that despite low audience numbers, the show is still on the air. Enough said.

3.) The Tudors - Showtime

One of my favorite series of all time was Rome back in 2005, unfortunately production costs have forced it off the air and off this list. The Tudors follows the same basic plot arc, with us following the infamous King Henry VIII and his immoral high court. Sex is prevalent and the back door political scheming keeps the viewer interested when titties aren't being shoved in their face.

2.) The Boondocks - Adult Swim

Despite what seems like an eternity in between seasons, the Boondocks is always funny. It has both surface humor and very deep comedy that reaches the bone of Black society. This show was Pants on the Ground before Pants on the Groun existed.

1.) It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia - FX Network

Part improv, part social commentary, part ridiculousness, It's Always Sunny is always pushing boundaries, but more importantly, it's always hilarious. Every single scene has a laugh out loud moment. Whether it be abortion humor, hippie humor, frat humor, or divorce humor, Sunny will always have a special place in my heart.

Just missed - Bizarre Foods w/ Andrew Zimmern, Mad Men, Nip/Tuck, Californication, True Blood, Penn & Teller: Bullshit​

Would have to say Dexter is the best show on TV right now, hands down. I also think House is a piece of shit show. Every episode is the exact same like you said. House is on vicodin, he's gonna try a ground breaking procedure, Omar Epps tells him he can't do it, House takes more vic's, pulls the procedure off, the end.

Haven't seen Heroes or The Tudors, but my girlfriend loves the latter. Always Sunny is the tits, but I've only seen a few episodes. Need to get on that.

I think that's why it's on just missed, he's so flamboyantly gay and annoying. I think with a better host it would easily be in my top 3. Watching him eat some of that crazy shit is like a car crash, you can't look away.
