Think of it this like this. And let me preface this by saying I don't feel this way personally;

Why do you think the logo of a team called the Cowboys is simply a star? A star has little to do in reminding you of a cowboy. To the fans in Texas, it's a symbol of not only the team, but the state and by extension the people. They take the term "Lone Star State" very seriously.

To them, you may as well spit on the Alamo or piss in the Rio Grande.

I don't think it'll affect the players much at all. But it will definitely affect the crowd.

What you said. I'm not from Texas but most of my friends that were born and raised here are just like the people you described above. Anything to do with the star is serious business to these people. We even had to buy an iron star and put in the flower garden in front of the house to get our neighbors off our ass for not having anything "Texas" at our house...lol

Did you ever like him? Spadaro has had a reputation in this city for a while now for being the equivalent of that dorky kid in HS that tries to do whatever he can to look "cool". This was just an instance in which it grew national legs. The apology he issued just makes him seem like even more of a tool.

Even the Philly radio hosts were calling him out as being a nerd.

Tough loss.
But I'm sick of hearing people pin this on McNabb.
McNabb didn't lose this game - the entire team lost this game.

Receivers couldn't get open all game, Birds couldn't stop Felix Jones or those damn WR screens, hell even Roy Williams contributed.

Pinning this on McNabb alone is ridiculous.

Was he part of the problem? Absolutely, but not even Peyton Manning would have won wearing an Eagles jersey tonight.

It was a total team effort (or not).

I find it sad how much heat McNabb takes. I agree he will not go down as the most accurate QB in NFL history, but he is Philly's best QB ever ... and doesn't deserve half the shit he gets.

A very solid performance by Dallas (again) and they deserved to win. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

Frankly, if I were Minnesota, I'd be shaking in my boots right now. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas do to them what they did to Philly.


SIDENOTE: The gameday sub-forum sucks. I doubt 3/4 of the guys here even know it exists.

I'm guessing there are about 29 or 30 other teams - including yours - who would kill for his record from 2000-2010.

McNabb may not be perfect, but he has nothing to apologize for ... least of all a goofy, funny moment before a game.

Donovan McNabb, IMO, is the least appreciated superstar of his era.

And he's a classy guy. Never on the police blotter.

IMO, if you were bashed as much as he's been the past 10 years, you'd develop a complex too.

As for this being his last game - I doubt it.

As I wrote earlier, the Eagles didn't lose tonight because of McNabb. It was a team effort (or lack thereof).

This team has a lot of talent. No way they release or trade McNabb. He'll only be 34 next year ... hardly ancient.

If anyone has to apologize, it's Reid. His playcalling sucks.

The only guy I worry about next year is Westbrook. I hope they bring him back, but my gut tells me they release him or he retires.

The dumb fuck insists on calling these plays that take eons to develop with a battered offensive line that had McNabb scrambling for his life most of the night.

-It was easy to see how the patched up O-line distracted McNabb. He got happy feet because he knew he would barely have any time in the pocket. A lot of his throws were off balance which caused for a lot of the inaccuracy.

-The defense sucks balls and they really need to focus on that this offseason. They need help at DE (Peppers?), OLB and FS.

-Anyone that blames last nights loss on McNabb is a fucking idiot. The defense once again could not get off the field. Through the first 20 min of the game, Dallas had the ball for 16 minutes. That's ridiculous. That pattern continued for the rest of the game as Dallas had the ball for 40 of the 60 minutes.

I'm not saying McNabb or the offense played well by any stretch, but the defense was more responsible last night.

I agree with everything you said. Westy is as good as gone, which will suck to not see him there anymore, but he isnt himself anymore.

Ever since Macho Harris has been starting, Ive always wondered why. He is complete garbage, and I didnt mind seeing him get hurt last night just so he couldnt play in the game anymore. We need defensive help, a lot of it. IDK if Sheldon is gonna be there next year, so we may need a CB as well. But we certainly need DE/LB help, and someone who can play alongside Mikell in the S spot. It will be very nice getting Stewart Bradley back so we dont have to watch Trotter stink it up anymore.

Congrats to the Cowboys, I hate you, but you completely dominated us 2 weeks in a row. We didnt even deserve to be on the same field with the types of performances we put up. Really disappointing to see the Eagles end the season like that.

Cowboys are going to be dangerous.
