The reason I'm most upset over this is because it sets an absolutely terrible standard. The umpires ejecting Porcello is basically inviting anyone to charge the mound whenever they get hit with a guarantee that you'll get the other team's pitcher thrown out. Porcello wouldn't have gotten thrown out had Youkilis just walked to first. But since YOUKILIS charged the mound, Porcello gets thrown out. Tell me how that makes sense?
Also, funny that nobody mentions that Cabrera, who is the better hitter between him and Youkilis, got hit both nights as well, and never even looked at the pitcher or think about charging.
Bottom line...Youkilis embarrassed himself by both getting man-handled by Porcello in the fight itself, throwing his helmet like a child, and running out there in the first place.
However, at the end of the day, I guess his technique worked, because it cost the Tigers a potential win. As soon as Lambert stepped foot outside the bullpen, it was game over.
