i actually didnt ask anything. but alot of people across the web felt this game is goty. i played maybe half the game before i stopped. it wasnt my kind of game, but that doesnt mean it wasnt a good game i mean, it was a well designed game. i could totally understand people giving it real high ratings.
but even though people thought it was great, i was surprised so many people thought it was a goty....i didnt see what the big deal was for people to call it goty

Dark Souls, no other game pulled me in and kept me hooked like DS did. Frustrated the hell out of me at times but still, great game.
i figured this would be on everyones disappointment of the year. everyone across the web seemed to just forget about this game about 2 weeks after it came out. remember that IGN guy who posted an article about how DS would be better than skyrim? lol

I don't understand all the flak Bf3 gets for the campaign. I thought it was quite enjoyable. Definitely much more "realistic" than MW3.

It was definitely more realistic, but I just found it soooo damn boring until that last chapter.
keep at it....the Joker is so fucking awesome in that game and some of the enemies are great....after about 1-2 hours i was sucked in totally.
Arkham City is definitely a different game than Arkham Asylum, but not in a bad way. I had such an awesome time flying around the streets of Arkham, and I thought that the overall story/end game was a lot better. The setting and atmosphere of the first one though can't be beat.
And man, talk about not being sucked in...Skyward Sword might be the slowest starting, most hand-holding game ever. I still haven't been able to enjoy it because it started so fucking slow. It does look gorgeous though. All of that said though, I still hate motion controls.

Right now Dark SOuls- thanks maynard had me hooked like no other. I think I put in near 80 hours into that game.
But I could skyrim being as good but the thing with skyrim is it isnt very hard. Dark SOuls was always a challenge. The campaign fits in with your typical military FPS as of late IMO which is why I can't really put it at the top of my list. Fantastic multiplayer, but nothing remarkable in the single player portion.

Yeah, it's short(ish). Yeah, it's silly....but that's what makes it great. It took the formula from the really short first game, added about double-triple the puzzles (along with one of the great twists in gaming the last decade or so) and an amazing script wiith great voice acting.
I'm torn. Skyrim sucked 80 hours of my life away before I took a break...but I really enjoyed Portal 2 more than I've enjoyed a lot of games the last few years.

Eh, not for me. I loved Dark Souls. I saw the article you were talking about and I thought it was silly. Completely different games that appeal to different groups. I readily admit DS has flaws, I think they overdid the difficulty for sure, but no other game this year hooked me the way DS did. Not even Skyrim. Getting past a tough boss in DS and moving on to the next beautifully designed zone, seeing what new death was ahead, just had a great time with it.
I also think that that entire article was pretty tongue-in-cheek.
Now, I personally could not get into Dark Souls as much as Demon's...don't know why, but it just frustrated and annoyed me more than it satisfied me. That being said, it's an extremely creative game (if a bit Demon's-esque) and really challenges the player in some very interesting and often not cheap ways (despite how often it might seem cheap). I hope that From Software keeps pushing the mold, although I hope they iterate a little less with the next one, personally.
