[PS3] PS3: Cross-Game Chat Is Never Coming

I cross-game chat in parties everyday on Xbox, it's my favorite feature. I have six really good friends on Xbox and we play a huge variety of games but were always in the same party chatting and talking about our day and shit, it's great.

Couple of us will be playing Street Fighter or some shit and others will be playing an arcade title and one will be watching netflix and the other will be staring at the dashboard but we all can talk to one another at the same time.

It's awesome and it's one of the reasons I sold my PS3 I cant even talk to you unless your in the same game as me, why do I even have a friends list then. I'll just go talk to random strangers in a pick up lobby.

I would rather be in Party Chat and play a FPS then be in the public chat lobby of the game. You never have to listen to those 12 year olds.

If you have real life friends on xbox it is a nice feature to see whats up. I have friends all over the US and when I see them on xbox sometimes we chat to see whats going on in real life. It should be standard on all consoles.

I've always been of the opinion that PSN is for people who play by themselves and wanna do a lot of single player gaming while XBL is for those who want to play multiplayer games with groups of people they know.

I don't have a problem with people liking or wanting cross-game chat. Like I said earlier, I never used it when I had a 360. If you really want to "chat" with someone on PSN, do it. You just can't do it in-game.

I play games to have some quiet time to myself and to escape reality...not to further immerse myself in it.

No, it's not. But who the fuck wants to chat on the phone when playing video games? Let alone when watching Netflix like Loco mentioned? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. How the fuck can you watch a movie and talk at the same time? It's impossible to devote the appropriate amount of concentration to each. You can honestly say that you chat with friends while watching movies? If so then you are like a bunch of cackling hens that probably traded gossip and recipes while you crotchet also.
I know that if someone calls me when I'm playing a game, even if it's a sports game that has no story to worry about, the person on the other end will say "What are you doing? Are you playing a game or something?" because it's pretty obvious I'm not paying a fucks attention to what they are saying.

I love this feature. I used to use it to stalk Yawkey Way. Plus every now and then someone would have a VSN party.



A lot of people used them in games like Madden and NBA2K. Instead of talking to their opponents they would get in parties with their friends who were playing the same game. It's like the chatbox of the gaming world.


But it's pretty useful for things outside of "gossip" as some of you are making it out to be. lol
