Jesus Christ, that is a late press conference.

I imagine it's a big event for both the PSPhone and the PSP2, but I could see them holding the PSP2 for TGS or E3.

yeah its like 3pm in japan. i will be up, i am sure someone will be updating the events at the conference.
psp2, price point.....200 bucks. more than that, you have to go against the juggernaut known as nintendo and their 3ds. i have a feeling it will be 299.....

The deal is it CANT be more than a PS3 so like tigstah said probably 299. Thats only $50 more than a 3DS. If it comes it more than the PS3 then it will be a horrible launch.

The PSP Phone could be equal in cost to a PS3 and still sell well. It would be an incredibly powerful smart phone with an upgraded PSP built in, which would be very attractive to gamers with discretionary income.

my son has the dsi xl and a psp....never ever see him playing the psp.

the conference is under way. the device is code named, next generation portable. 2 cameras, oled, 960 x 544, 3g.....no price announced as of yet

Pretty crazy so far.

They're bringing the Playstation Store to Android phones, which is cool.

PSP2 (or NGP) has 2 dualshock joysticks, 2 touchpads (1 pad on back, screen on front) and a new media type that looks like a modified SD card. Also contains same gyroscope and accelerometer as PS Move.

The OS for PSP2, called LiveArea, has a bunch of location-based services as well as augmented reality functions for games that support it. Screenshots of Uncharted and Killzone don't look quite PSP3 quality, but damn near close.

The PSP2 is finally here. Sony revealed its brand new PlayStation Portable at an event in

Tokyo today, giving us our first official look at the PlayStation maker's next bold foray
into handheld gaming, the "Next Generation Portable." Here are the first details.

The Hardware
Sony confirmed many of the features of the PSP2 that we've already heard in the form of leaks, rumor and speculation. The PSP2 features a high-resolution, touch-sensitive OLED screen that's larger than the original PSP screen, tilt-sensitive SIXAXIS controls, dual analog sticks, front and back-facing cameras, and a touch sensitive back panel.

Sony boasts that the new PlayStation Portable is as powerful as a PlayStation 3. The device features built-in WiFi and 3G wireless connectivity and uses an all-new form of media storage for games—no more UMD.

For now, Sony is officially calling the new PlayStation Portable by its codename, Next Generation Portable or NGP. It will be out this holiday.
