You may note I am in that thread. I'm well aware that adaptive AI isn't working, and you'll also note that everyone that was at CD also stated that it WAS working at CD. I was given no reason to believe it'd be any less effective in the final product.
Looks like a lot of people agree with me. That's the reason I even bother with Operation Sports, because they actually point out the issues in the game. VSN, a great place to post about non gaming issues, is far too content with the flawed game they get every year.
Many people do agree with you. But most people think it's a solid game, and I'm among them.
I understand, though, when you fall for a half assed pitch mans product (Ian, in this case,) you try to avoid feeling like an ass, by not pointing out all the negatives in the product you just wasted $60 on. Ian, so far, has great vision, he's either not capable of achieving them with this gen console, or he's one hell of a con man.
I didn't "fall" for anything. I know what I have. I can't change the fact that it doesn't meet your standards. Hell, I can't understand anyone's standards who actually like the NBA or any game based on it.
I'd prefer he just patch the game, to where it actually plays like the game he promised us... But as it stands right now, this game is not much better than previous versions. The gameplay/AI is broken as hell, the game freezes online, sliders aren't working at full capacity - Hell, I could have gotten all of this from Madden 09.
Which sliders aren't working? (honest question)
I kinda like you, too, Adem - But see, I don't kinda like Madden 10 yet, and right now, that's more important.
Maybe in a month, all of these issues will start pissing me off too, but right now I like it. I don't think it's the greatest game of all time, or even the best football game of all time. Hell, it's only the best Madden of all time because the previous best was a PS1 game.... but I can actually PLAY a football game for the first time since 2004, so I'm going with it.
At any rate, I have my own ideas as to how to improve AI, how to make adaptive AI actually work and be realistic. I know
goddamn well how to fix
all of the blocking... but I knew from very early on that the kind of stuff I'm thinking of wasn't making it in in one iteration... and it had nothing to do with time.
So, I'm sorry if I am myself. I don't just attack people, never have, when it's not related to politics. If the 2k5 developers showed up here, or the MLB The Show developers, or if David Ortiz showed up here, I'd treat him the same way I treat Rac, Phil, Donny, Josh, or Ian. Does it help that I see my own input directly in the game, so I want to stay on someone's good side? Yes, but I have never given anything but my
honest assessment of what Madden is... or what I thought it would be. Some of these issues didn't exist at CD. Some did and we figured they'd be fixed. A lot
was fixed (including things that were never fixed in NCAA).
Hell, I was one of the closest people to agreeing 100% with you on NCAA 10, you might remember. Don't like it. Gave it a 6 because I could see the improvements, but I actually found it
less fun than '09 despite it being a more polished and balanced game. This is despite the fact that, if there was a guy at Tiburon I met that I'd actually have a beer with, it'd be Russ. That doesn't change the fact that I think Russ released a peice of shit. This ain't about my reputation at EA.. I'm not Stephensonic, defending every last thing to come down the pipe. Would I accept a job at EA? Well, I make 10.27 an hour doing IT for McDonalds, you're fuckin' right I'd accept a job at EA, and I expect anyone else in my position would do the same, but I have never once lied or hid my feelings on what Madden is.
You simply disagree. We agree about what's wrong with it, we simply disagree on how much it affects our enjoyment of it. I honestly am not enjoying offline anymore... not like I used too... but I've gotten back into the online game, and that's been quite fun.
