if that was an illegal hit, then there is no difference in the tackling form/the way a defender uses his body, you know, defensively, between that being flagged for an illegal hit, or stopping a receiver from making the completion/maybe causing a fumble.

The Ocho hit was way less worse because at least he still had the ball in his hands. The ball was way out of Donald Jones grasp when Rahim Moore took his fucking head off. I don't view the Ocho hit as unnecessary because that hit is what causes the incompletion. The Donald Jones one would've been incomplete Rahim Moore's hit or not.

While I wish these hits were all legal this is just how I see it.

this, any hit to the head of a defenseless receiver is going to be called regardless if it was intentional or not. Too many players are ending up with brain problems later in life and the NFL has to protect themselves from lawsuits.

yes he lead with his shoulder but he went up towards his head. they are gonna call that 100% of the time. any hit up towards the head whether it be shoulder, arm, leg, or pinkie is gonna be a penalty. the announcer nailed it when he said "you got to aim lower". its a split second play but if theres a hit up high like that and some dude is laying stiff on the field its gonna be a penalty

u guys can argue the rule with me all day if you want. its pointless though. I didnt make the rule and i dont always agree with it. I am just explainign why there was a flag and will probably be a fine.

in this case i think he could have went low. There was a play last year where whats his name for the steelers got flagged for a hit on Josh Cribbs to the head. Cribbs was sliding in a downward motion and the hit to the head was totally unintentional. Nothing could be done to avoid it and the flag was BS...and im a browns fan

This hit by Moore was to a leaping WR who was in a classic defenseless position. The DB came in high leading with his shoulder and absolutely crushed the WR. It is in the rules and the NFL has gone above and beyond to make players aware of this and told them not to do it. Its not like they dont know. The NFL is trying to train these guys to think about how they are hitting and create changes for the future. This is to protect the the other guy and also the player himself.

the nfl is simply trying to avoid the bad press and potential lawsuits. Not only that but the extremely high cost of medical bills and the pressure from the insurance companies. Remember, the nfl is paying a premium to insurance companies to cover these players. Think about how your cost of insurance thru work has increased and how much pressure the insurance companies apply to avoid paying medical costs. Now imagine what its like for the NFL.

Stop acting like he couldn't avoid this. For one you're taught not to launch yourself as a defender. That's a wrong right there. Moore's feet should have never left the ground. He should have kept his feet on the ground with his head up.

Second, there are definitely ways of breaking your fall and if there isn't, like the above says, you're doing something wrong in the first place.

While I agree that the players should know what they are getting into. Nothing is stopping the retired players and their families from suing. I'm also pretty sure the NFL would get laughed at in court if their main defense was the players should have known the risks.

With the rule change this season, why risk hitting a receiver in the chest when your helmet is in close proximity to the opponents helmet? The defenders pretty much asking for a flag to be thrown in that situation.

This whole player safety bullshit, while good, is asking players to completely change what they have been taught their whole life. A player is supposed to allow you to catch a ball, aiming for the waist and not the chest for the sake of not making incidental H2H contact? GTFOH.
