Rams Have #1 Overall Pick, Lions Have #2

Suh has to be the number 1 pick. He's a sure fire pick and you don't want to take a chance at that spot. Rams need a QB, but there are too many questions around Clausen and Bradford for them to pass up on a lock like Suh.

If they choose to keep him (and they may if they cant get a QB in Rd.2), Bulger is still adequete if you keep him upright and provide him with weapons. Rams have good young WR's who developed nicely this year, and the OL was playing ok until the injuries overwhelmed them.

I don't mind trading down, but I don't want a QB in round 1. This team has too many holes to waste a high pick on a QB--especially the guys in this class.

DT is a glaring position of need, taking the best draft prospect in years just makes too much sense not to do.

The fan base has been jacked up about Suh for the last two months, so that's not an issue.

As for drafting another D-Lineman, why not? I'm betting your casual NFL fan would have trouble naming a single player who started for the Rams at DT this year. They were literally starting guys off the street named Douzable & Ah You.

A D-line of Chris Long (who was awesome in the second half of the season) & James Hall on the ends, with Carriker & Suh inside, with Little as a situational pass rusher (word is Spags wants him back in tha capacity) would turn an ugly position in 2009 into an area of strength in 2010.

St. Louis ownership isn't about to pay the #1 overall pick a TON of money and not have it be at the marketable position of QB. Money is always a concern and when you are paying THAT much money to a player, you better be able to make some money off of him.

Plus, the saying is that if you don't have a franchise QB, you have to take him with the first overall pick. The Rams definitely do not have a franchise QB, plus another defensive lineman after 2 straight DL picks isn't exactly fiscally responsible considering you don't want all your money locked into one part of your team.

I really see Bradford coming back strong in workouts and being the #1 pick. Suh is great, but a DT isn't a great pick for #1 overall. Can anyone name the last DT to be picked #1 overall that went to more than 1 Pro Bowl?

I agree with Jeremy, I think the first pick will actually be a quarterback, I just think it's going to be Clausen. Just look what happened with Matt Ryan and Glen Dorsey, people thought it'd be wise to take the dominant Dorsey, but the Falcons invested money on the franchise QB. I think the Lions would be wise to take Okung to protect Stafford for years to come, but knowing them, they will probably go with Suh, which isn't a bad pick, but Suh isn't going to keep Stafford healthy.

I don't follow the Rams or Lions close enough to know their most important needs. Then again, some teams don't go by needs; they just draft the best players available on the board.

I believe he was talking about Colt because he mentioned how Bradford/Claussen may not be worth #1 pick money.
