Rams officially release WR Torry Holt

To be fair to Torry Holt - He's a better route runner, has better hands, and the type of guy I'd want helping out my younger, upcoming players, unlike a T.O. Roy Williams/Tony Romo could use some tips. He's not as dangerous as he once was, but he still has something left to offer.

I doubt Dallas bothers, though.

100% agreed. He brings alot to the table that Dallas WRS lack. Route discipline , steady hands ,and Big game experience.
Guys like that are invaluable. Ask Irvin/Aikman/Harper what they felt and how much they learned from Kelvin Martin.

Yeah no way he lands in Arizona unless Boldin gets traded soon.
I like him landing in Tennessee, not only cause I'm a Titan fan, but because he would be a good fit there.

Actually makes a lot of sense for Holt to go to Arizona.. he would be reunited with Kurt Warner, a guy who made his career early on..he would stay in the division and play the Rams twice a year.. he would be in a familiar enough offense in that he could come in and contribute.

And I think it would send a message to Boldin that he could bitch and moan all he wants, they will move on without him.

Stories have came out now that TN offered a 5th for Holt and the rams accepted it, but the titans couldnt work a deal with Holt's agent who wanted to redo his contract. Apparently that was the highest offer the rams got and nobody else was offering anything so they released him.

Here's what i posted over on that other site...

His drop in production had to do with:

a.) the Rams lack of a competent passing game
b.) he was phased out of the gameplan early in the season by Lamehan, who secretly tried to cut him last offseason

With that said, he has clearly lost a step. HOWEVER, his game was never about speed. Torry Holt never ran past a DB in his life. Holt is the type of WR who succeeded on superior route running (learned in large part from his mentor, Isaac Bruce), and the best hands of his era. In short, he gets to where he is supposed to be, and always catches the ball. And much like Jerry Rice, NO ONE outworks him.

For those reasons, he should age well (much like Rice & Bruce), and continue to be a productive possession WR for 5+ more season.

I think Holt won't really be too selective with a team especially becuz he has a ring already. Not saying that he doesnt want another one but the top tier teams pretty much have a solid receiving core (with the exception of a few)...

IF he still wants to compete for a title he'll probably go to a pass based team. or at least a team where he'd be involved in the offense.

As I already mentioned Detroit......

Dallas - (only if they let go of Hurd or Crayton, becuz I think JJ really wants these younger WR's to become a face in the franchise)

ATL - Ryan + White + Holt = Wow

Carolina - Steve Smith + Holt (+) Williams + Stewart (RB's) = WOW

Philly - McNabb to Holt for 6!

Tampa Bay - They just need a WR

'Hawks - Housh + Holt = Nice colab

Green Bay - Jennings + Holt = Packers winning the NFC north

Balt - They just need a WR

Houston - Nice addition

Indy - Peyton would have fun next year

those are the only teams I really see him looking at going to.

I'd say he'll go to Indy or Dallas, since he doesn't really have many years left.

I'll add a characteristic to the team he signs with to narrow it down:

They'll play on field turf, and have a stadium that is a dome or able to close its roof.

Good points, Dallas should DEFIANTLY take a look at Holt, having him opposite Roy will be a nice fit for offense.

My friend keeps saying Torry Holt has always wanted to play with McNabb. Plus McNabb said he wants more weapons on offense. I can see the Eagles signing Holt then drafting an OT and Moreno in the first round. Holt in Philadelphia is the most likely scenario in my opinion.
