Yeah. It would have been awesome, but in fairness to MLB, Montreal simply didn't support the Expos enough. Crowds of 10,000 were the norm.
Hell, it was kinda funny, in 2002 or 2003 (forget which), the Boston Red Sox were in Montreal for the weekend. Olympic Stadium wasn't ready for 40,000 fans ... and many of the bathrooms and concessions were closed.
Everyone blames the strike, but let's be honest ... even if the Expos had gone on to win the World Series that year, they still would have dismantled the team the next year.
I loved going to Expos' games at Olympic Stadium. My French grandma lived in Montreal and I'd spend 3 weeks a summer with her. She lived three blocks from Olympic Stadium and had boatloads of tickets waiting for me when I arrived.
I worry the same thing is going to happen in Toronto. Bad stadium, indifferent fans...
