Raptors Trade Kapono For Evans

The Toronto Raptors have acquired Reggie Evans from the Philadelphia 76ers for Jason Kapono.

League sources say the trade will be officially announced this afternoon.

The move will save Toronto financially.

Evans is owed $4.6 million next season and $5 million in 2010-11 on his contract.

Kapono's deal will pay him $6.2 million this coming season and $6.6 million the season after.

Anyways, its an all right deal. The raptors clear a bit of cap up but they lose Kapono. At the 9th pick we could probably pick up a shooter to replace him.

Evans is exactly what we need on this team.. a tough guy who rebounds and plays defense.

What the fuck has Jason Kapono ever done in a Raptors uni other than win a 3-pt contest?That mother fucker is useless.

Evans is useless on offense, yes.. very useless.. but his tough guy attitude and post presence are things we desperately need on our team.

he's useless when you have six other guys that can shoot the three, like the raptors do. the sixers, on the other hand, aren't so fortunate and are planning on starting a useless black guy at SG (willie green). reggie evans was going to rot on the bench in their new offense, but kapono actually could contribute

Willie Green is better than Jason Kapono. As bad as that sounds, its true. Atleast Green shows SOME ability to put the ball on the floor. If it aint a catch a shoot, or a FREE lane to the hole, JK is useless. Dont get me wrong.. JK will TRY to create for himself.. its just painful to watch.

With everything being said I still think Kapono could be a nice fit on a team that plays from the inside out and needs a spot up shooter.

Kapono will help the Sixers more than Evans will help the Raps. Kapono is one of the best 3 point shooters of all-time. He wasn't effective in Toronto because we have no one that can create open shots for teammates. All the Sixers do is drive and kick so he's perfect for them.

Hes only the most one-dimensional player of all time.

We thought he'd be a good fit here too, it remains to be seen how hes going to pan out in Philly.

Point is tho, we got much tougher bcus of this trade. Reggie Evans is a guy whos not afraid to put an opposing player flat on his back. We havent had that since Charles Oakley.

How much tougher can a guy that you only want playing 12 mins a game really make you? Toughness comes from your stars.

Oakley was never a star. You dont need toughness from your stars dude. You need toughness from your role players. I dont know how much PT Evans is going to get, but when hes on the floor he provides an edge.

Kobe Bryant would've never gone for 82 with a guy like Reggie Evans around. Hes going out there and getting a flagrant 2 ejection before he allows that to happen. This guy is also one of the best rebounders in the entire NBA, proof by his per-48 stats.

Ill take it over a guy who accomplished nothing for us for the big money we gave him. I hope Jason does well in Philly, but I wont hold my breath.
