I'm not going to beg a person to watch the Wire or any show for that matter. But don't just watch a couple episodes and give up.

If you can't even dedicate yourself to one season of a show then you shouldn't start it in the first place. The Wire isn for everyone because each episode is an hour and it is not an action thriller.

At least Terriers had a somewhat awesome conclusion on the brink of its cancellation. At least it didn't end with some bullshit cliffhanger. What really sucks about that show is everyone on it was so passionate about it and even the President of FX wrote a letter to its fans about how he loved Terriers and it was hear breaking he had to cancel it, but he tried everything to get people to watch it and it simply wasn't enough. It was one of the best press releases I've read and makes me love the FX brand and channel that much more. AMC gets a shit load of buzz as being the premiere cable channel but FX has fucking got up there with their own quality brand as well. I usually end of loving almost anyone of the bizarre shows they risk putting on the air.

Yeah, how it ended was perfectly, but the characters were so awesome I wanted more.

I actually agree with you. I've seen The Wire in its entirety and is fantastic, was just giving you shit with the tiny albeit unintentional contradiction. Mad Men was a complete shit for me the first season and I said fuck it and popped in season 2 for the hell of it and enjoy it far more than season 1. I do however have no problem with someone not enjoying Mad Men. I know too many people think its TV Gold, but they only have a slew of characters to keep you interested whereas The Wire is a different story because they go into so much detail into the characters and their stories that by the end of the first season you'd be a liar if you didn't find at least 4-5 characters that you fell in love with.

After finishing "Henry and Mudge: Under The Yellow Moon", I needed a new book. So I snuck into my older brothers collection, but was frightened by the book covers for "The Hobbit" and some Stephen King stuff. So instead I picked The Great Gatsby which looked little kid friendly.
 
FX has had consistently great shows since "The Shield" which is still my favorite series of all time (bought the complete series a few months ago but have only made it through season 1 so far due to other viewing obligations). But Terriers, Sons Of Anarchy, Justified, It's Always Sunny, Archer, Wilfred and Louie are all great shows that are all still on the air (sans Terriers :()

Not even close. Shawshank might be my favorite movie. The Wire just doesn't do it for me. I can understand why people love it, but I'm saying I don't. I have no urge to watch the rest of the first season just to find out if I like it or not.
 
Anyone who has finished Battlestar Galactica, I have one huge problem with the ending. Maybe one of you can explain this to me.

 
At the end of the first season when they are transported from the tomb to Earth, that clearly was not the 13th tribe's Earth because that one had been decimated by nuclear war. So it was quite obviously the Earth they ended up on at the end of the series. Yet if they did land 150,000 years in our past, who put the stone markers there? Who put the constellations on the flags? To me, it was far in the future and our Earth had been destroyed and reborn, and survivors from that destruction went to what was their Kobol.


Still a pretty good show overall, but the ending doesn't really fit.

If you do choose to watch, season 1 starts pretty slow (monster of the week), season 2 is really good, season 3 is great...and seasons 4 and 5 are pretty much the best 2 season run of any show I've seen in a very, very long time.

Do yourselves a favor, check it out. The show is legitimately entertaining, and pretty damned funny at times. 7 seasons and going strong.

A bit of a bump because this is the only place I remembered this showing being talked about.

Watching this from the beginning and in order after years of having caught random re-runs on tnt. I would say I had seen about half of both season 1&2 and maybe 25% of 3 through 5 beforehand.

I think I'm about 3-4 episodes away from finishing season 3 and I would have to agree that season 2 is really fantastic, definitely an upgrade over the first. But so far I have felt that the third season is a little bit below par after coming off of that strong second season. Maybe things will really pick up towards the finale.

Even though I already know the major plot points of 4&5, I hope they are every bit as good as you advertise.
 
I'm finally almost caught up on Supernatural, I'm halfway through season 7 now. I wouldn't say it's an all time great show but it's probably one of my favorites because it's consistently good with lots of humor.
 
The Borgia's. My parents tipped me off on it last year, I got caught up in a hurry. Great show.
