Plenty of them behind McFarland's ranch...ride along the RR tracks but be careful of boars. When using the knife, I had to do the melee bit to get a kill.

Lots of the muthas up around Plain View in Rio Bravo. Listen for the first warning growl, get off your horse and get your back to a rock or something to keep them from attacking from behind. Otherwise, get in an open field around McFarlands where you can constantly do the melee after taking a swipe with the knife.

i am stuck on level 5 hunter. these fucking cougars are a pain in the ass. i cant find them when i actual look....and when i do find one they either kill me or take a slice from the knife and run away....pricks!

There are a ton up by Tanner's Reach/Pass (can't remember which one it is). There's a cabin in the snow and you'll get attacked by 5-6 cougars at a time.

I need 3 trophy's for platinum... The one that needs you toy get top level online is one of them, that hold me back. I wish games didn't have online trophy's.

I agree. Online trophies blow. Yet you'll have a game like CoD4 and MW2 that are basically all multiplayer based and not have any multiplayer trophies. Go figure.

Cougars and bears are brutal. At first you don't think the bears are bad because they are so lumbering but their speed is deceptive and once they are on you you're fucked.

thanks for the tips. ended up finding them in rio bravo right when i started tonight. got the 2 kills rather quickly too.

the next one is a pain only cause idk where to find them. i used a guide and found the 5 raccoons in armadillo behind the stage coach. The 5 skunks and foxes have eluded me thus far

all the other ambient challenges are done expect this hunter one. i want to get the legends outfit to see how it looks....maybe i will go for 100%

Northwest of the Wreck of the Serendipity (particularly the area with a group of trees directly north of the "Wreck of the Serendipity."

Also between the Twin Rock (head north from Riley's Charge) and the road to the west, and abundantly high in Rio Del Lobo.

South of Beecher's Hope in West Elizabeth, where the fox image is on the map

There is a hunting/skinning challenge that occurs randomly east of Warthington Ranch at night, where a Hunter will ask Marston to hunt and skin foxes for him. He will give some bait, and after using it, three to five foxes appear.

Baiting around the Hanging Rock should bring out several, as well as some coyotes, raccoons, skunks and rabbits.

These can also be spotted directly north-northwest of MacFarlane's Ranch, using bait will bring them out, along with wolves, boars, and the occasional cougar.

i was using bait alot last night but i kept getting other animals. I thought i was in areas that were noted on the map where these animals would be, but i kept getting wolves, coyotes and everything but what i needed.

i got this "chemist" pop up message when i finished the survival challenge. The message came and went to fast and i forgot to pause and read it. something about being able to make stuff from herbs. any idea how i get to do that?

i dont seem to have a lab or anything....lol

You can check your message log in the menu.

I think the whole chemist thing just means you completed the survivalist challenge and now every time you grab a plant it replenishes your health, or deadeye. Something like that.

After completing all 10 of the Survivalist Challenges, you are able to "distill" tonic, which is a drinkable consumable.

Tonic restores app. 75% of your Dead-Eye-meter when consumed. Marston can have up to 10 tonics at a time.

Tonic is created after harvesting any plant. Watch while gathering herbs as grizzlies or cougars may attack.....tonic comes in handy at this stage.

Also good to have a survivalist map of the area.

i am finished with this game now. got 100% and as many achievements as a care to go for.

the final missions were really stupid

 

and jack is annoying as fuck. Even as an adult his voice was still gay. But those final missions on the ranch were just dumb. I know they were trying to add the simple life element to the story at the end before john dies, but come on.....how many more pointless riding, herding and horse breaking do we need. And the lame ass following rufus stuff. Those were just longer versions of the night watcher missions. LAME!

i found that i enjoyed the side stuff more than the story missions. Some of the story missions were cool, but for the most part they were repetitive and boring.

now i can trade it in with ncaa and hopefully get some value out of it

I hated the "follow the dog" missions. I wish I could get the want to get those last 3 trophy's... When I was playing this I thought it was gonna win GoTY but after I got done with it I never thought that again.

It fell into the GTA IV trap where every mission just turned into "drive/ride here, shoot these guys, drive back" whereas the side missions felt at least like something different.

Totally agree. Some of the sheet was lame. They should have ended after the kid went to Mexico and killed off that dude! Hated that kid's voice.

i tried for this honor and highest fame achievement. It wouldnt give it to me though. you need highest fame (Legend) which i had, and either the highest or lowest honor. I just started killing everyone and got my honor all the way down to nothing but it didnt give me the achievement. Then i got killed and said fuck it
