Watching Inside MMA on ESPN, they said he is getting 80k to show, 80k to win

Jake botched this free agency from the start, I hope he wins because if he losses right away that is not good for him and he will be on the chopping block

Interresting dichotomy for Dana, does he push him as the SF champ? On one hand , its a great promotional tool and bragging point.on the other hand, its recognizing your top competitor. He let's Goldberg describe guys as former IFL champs, so who knows. Tough to tell with Rogan because he says whatever he wants anyway.
 
As much as people hate Shields, I see his latest fights as being VERY similar to GSP's latest fights. GSP has been taking guys down, getting on top of them and just wearing them out all fight. That is what Shields has been doing and one could argue that he has been doing it in more dominant fashion because GSP looked like he really didn't want to go all the way with a submission against Dan Hardy when Hardy showed he wasn't going to tap.

Either way, I cannot wait to see him in the UFC. I really like the ground game and right now, there are few that are better.

How much are guys like Martin Kampmann or Chael Sonnen getting? He's on the same level, champion from another org or not.

All Dana had to do was slap those two ugly CbS ratings on the table that he main evented. Negotiation over. I'm not sure how much you thought he could get. There is a reason Coker let him walk.

If he wins, and gets a title shot, he'll make a shit ton more than that. If he doesn't win, he's overpaid.

I thought he would get what he got because he blew the negotiations from the start, Jake was just a pawn between Dana and Coker, it was almost a game of chicken and Coker didnt want to play, no one really ‘wanted’ him that bad

I understand why you and others think he is ‘overpaid’ because of how MMA guys in general are paid, but I laugh because the MMA fan in general thinks these guys should be fighting for peanuts for their amusement and we have multi millionaire athletes running around getting blown by every fan all day long like there a super hero

Well geez rob, if you want to compare him to AROD, then sure, he's underpaid.

But yeah, I agree he was a pawn to some extent, but I can't begrudge him for jumping, ppv money is hard to pass on.

I'm not comparing him to AROD, or think he should get AROD money, but the guy is getting 80/80, that is garbage money for a champ of another org that jumped ship and is 1 fight from a title shot

I always say fighters should go where the money is, we don't even know if Jake will get a PPV cut, if he didnt than he is a fool, I think its safe to say he wont get any for the Kampman fight, maybe if he wins he gets it to fight GSP, but thats not set in stone
