So ever since I got the super jump and run powers I don't think I've driven one car..

...spent 5 hours playing this game last night and only got through 3 of the main missions because I kept getting sidetracked climbing those sky towers and breaking up flashpoints.

So, how is the framerate on the PS3 version? My buddy got the 360 and it seems literally almost unplayable at times (particularly when it saves and everything freezes -- WHILE YOU'RE IN MID AIR). I planned on getting it for PC regardless, but I was just curious if the PS3 was hopefully somewhere between the two.

It runs faster than SR4 but looks slightly worse.

I say this only playing the Single Player so far so I have NO idea if there will be hitches when I start co-op but since this game's using an updated map of Steelport and a few set pieces that are one-and-done, there's no taxation of the game itself.

I will say that in-game they mention that since this is a digital representation of Steelport, any pixelation/shimmering/etc. is caused by the programming of the game-world you're in.

It's meta but basically that's the excuse for anything that doesn't look bleeding edge, PC-style.

So, like Gerstman said, if you want the VERY VERY best version of this game, grab it for PC...

IF you have no other choice, grab the PS3 console version otherwise.

Yeah....at this point playing these high demand titles on 6-8 year old graphics cards is just insane. I amazed these games even work at all. The gap between the PC and console is so big now. It used to be just graphics but now these consoles games are studdering and becoming hard to play. Fucking NCAA on the 360 is painful.

Not disagreeing at all, b/c it's obvious that at the very least, the graphical jump is pretty big right now with this old consoles, but I will say that Splinter Cell: Blacklist plays, and even looks very good on the PS3 at least. I haven't heard how it plays on 360, but I've been playing for about 5 hours now and the gameplay is smooth as butter while it's also one of the best looking games I've seen on console (again, I'm sure it looks 10x better on a good PC).

Interested to see first-hand how SR4 plays once I finish up SC though.

It's basically one huge, sloppy love letter to fans of the series from what I've seen.

 

They even bring up why Shaundi is the way she is in SR3 (and elaborate through audio logs you can find) and bring back SR2 Shaundi as a "Fun" alternative.

While the SR2 version has a different voice actress, it was fun seeing where you recruit her for SR4 and if you've played SR2 it brings back a lot of nostalgia.

Especially with the NPH bit-part as Veteran Child.

And when you go to pick up Benjamin King, you get to go back to parts of SR1 (uprezzed of course) which is neat if you've played that too.

Basically if you've wanted to play more of what SR has become but miss some of the old stuff, they have you covered.

Anybody coming in fresh may be a little confused but it's still fun enough to recommend, even if you prefer it at a discount.

I just spent 40 minutes doing nothing but Flashpoints and collecting the Crackdown-esque orbs.

I'm gonna dump way too much time into this game.

FINALLY picked this up for my PC. It is gorgeous. And then there is gameplay. This game. THIS FUCKING GAME. I love it. It's like it is directly connected to my pleasure button. Can not recommend it enough.

It's always been 2-Player throughout the series.

I think SR2 was the only one to have full teams but you had to play PVP.

my initial impression is this game is dated. the graphics look exactly like SR3. And the over feel of the game is just like SR3. When i went to go buy clothes i noticed that everything was exactly the same as SR3...the clothes, the interface, everything...same with guns. But at least with guns they expanded a tad to add some customization and more depth to upgrades. the gameplay in gun fights, driving ect are also exactly the same as SR3.

that said its still SR3 and the over the top antics and humor are as good as ever. Its a fun game to play and its not trying to reinvent the wheel. But one thing that has always separated SR series from every other sandbox game is that they have always taken all the good things from all the other games and put it into their game. I guess there isnt much more that can be done on this gen...so its kind of like MLB the Show in that they have been so great for so long that they cant top themselves anymore.

Fantastic game. Since Wednesday, I've done nothing but sleep, eat shower, work and play Saints Row. I'll likely wait a week and go back in with a new character. Loved this game, brilliant on so many levels.

I was up until 2AM last night. I've logged about 5 hours so far, and I swear I've done maybe 4 missions? The game is banana bread, and I can't seem to stop orb collecting. It runs so well on the PC, and the sense of speed is amazing.

Not exactly a complain, but at this point, I do not see the point of cars.
