Somewhat fitting that Boychuck was the defensemen that was burned on the game-winning goal, because the fact that he was on the ice at all was a joke. Boychuck pinning Bolland's hands and stick after the goal just added to the classlessness. That said, Boychuck was great all series. Charra was a liability for the latter part of the series...his contribution to game 5 was his cheap shot(s) on Bickell at the end of the game, and his contribution to game 6 was running Toews into the goal post after the play...and the ref swallows his whistle. Was Stephen Walkom doing this game?
Since discussion of the actual hockey action, tactics, calls, is a no-no here, I'll just add a few extemperaneous points...
*NBC having Pierre McGuire conduct interviews is like ESPN having Stuart Scott trying to do hockey highlights. McGuire has been brutal all postseason. Blackhawks score 2 goals in the final 90 seconds to overcome a 2-1 deficit...McGuire's postgame question to Brent Seabrook: "Was there a point during the game when you thought to yourself, 'well, we have this game won'?" OH MY GOD!
*NBC's decision to have the audio on when Andrew Shaw was hoisting the Stanley Cup was equally disasterous. Every other word was "Fuck" or "Fucking"...must have said it 8-9 times.
*More from Shaw...when asked how it feels to have won the Stanley Cup, Shaw's response was "Unsurreal...unsurreal".
*They actually had Corey Crawford live on the radio this morning. He called into the station, and when asked a question his slurred answer would be "It just feels great to party" or " This partying is so awesome". After a couple more questions, you couldn't even understand the words Crawford was saying. Thanks for checking in!
