The way everyone talks about it I really wish I could sit down with a PS3 and give it a whirl.

The last baseball game I really played was High Heat 2005 (i think) for the PC and it was just rediculous how real everything was. I just simmed and simmed and simmed. Played every now and then.

For anyone that has played both is it anywhere near HH05? If it is eb you need to just get it. Really is no selling needed.

put it this way...I've ALWAYS HATED baseball, had no interest...my first PS3 i bought off my friend, with the show 07...i played it, even tho i hated baseball and loved it...I sold that PS3, got xbox360...that 360 is gone now i bought another PS3 just cuz this games release was coming up...It made somebody who is by far the most stubborn and ignorant person i know (myself) buy a system, for a sport he never used to enjoy, and play this game...now i watch a lot of baseball, still dont have a favorite team yet althought i pulled for the phillies last yr. this game has every feature, realistic animation, anything you want in a game is right here, if SCEA EVER took over madden...we would never have a single complaint about a football game again.

Playing half an inning at Best Buy yesterday on their display consoles was amazing.

I'm shit at pitching.. but oh yeah.. it still felt great to get owned.

I played the MLB 2k9 demo and I thought "Well, this isn't too bad".

Then I went to Best Buy at some point after and played The Show. Turns out the 2k9 demo was pretty bad.

i dont think this game has create a team.....i never looked so im not sure. But the fisher cats are already in the game. It has every real AAA and AA team.

threads like this can be annoying because people who own the game cant understand why someone needs to be sold on a game that is deemed by most as the greatest sports game ever. but if u havnt played it i guess you wouldnt know that.

best way to desribe this game is for you to think about real life baseball.
What you see on tv, the announcers, the overlays, the beach balls, the vendors, the hecklers, the mascots, a 1st basemen reaching into the stands to catch a foul ball that some fan is trying to snag. the grass patterns on the field. the management aspects you read about with the teams everyday. the offseason things you read about, the stats. the call ups and send downs, the drafts and waivers, trades...all that BS
now think about yourself sitting at a ballgame. the sites, the sounds, the look and feel, the sun setting on a warm summer day.
Now think about how real baseball players play a game of baseball. Again, the way a real game of baseball is played.

I'm hesitant on this game as well. I really don't have the time at all to devote to a baseball season but I might be able to play a few online games. I' keep hearing online is still banged up. True or false?

online isnt bad at all. my experience online has been great. 1 game had lag issues at random times, and it was the only time i had to play an un-enjoyable game

a few other times i had horrible lag at the start, but we did a friendly quit and started over and got a lag free game.

its not perfect, but the pitcher/batter interface is usually smooth. u will have moments of lag, but i think its a solid experience

My experience with online play has been really good. I think it's actually been getting better too. The last several games I've played online have been virtually lag-free. Maybe all the 12 year olds with ADD that got the game on release day and played 200 online games have already moved on to other things and there is less load on the servers. Who knows.

Bats getting thrown into the stands, Soriano getting in the catchers face after getting beaned in the head by Bucsfan, Zambrano hitting 2 home runs, etc...

You really don't need to be sold on this game...you just need the game to be sold to you and everything else will work itself out.

The thing that speaks volumes about this game for me, is the fact I'm playing on the PS2.

I never bought a PS3, had a 360. Bought MLB 2k9, played it for three days and returned it. My franchises were freezing and couldn't keep them going. Loved the hit stick, loved the pitching, didn't like that I couldn't play franchise and that all the other flaws in the game, horrible AI and what not. So I took it back and thought I wouldn't get my baseball fix, I decided instead to try The Show on PS2, got it.

I take it home and for the past month or so I've had it, it's the only game I've played. My 360 collects dust now while my PS2 dominates my big screen. I don't have the flashy graphics, don't have the beach balls, the mascots, the incredible screen shots, but I have a game, with solid AI, decent graphics and it's playable. I think about it now and If I knew how good the show was going to be when it first game out I might of jumped on the Sony bandwagon long before.

I was on the same bandwagon last year, I didn't have a PS3. I still played the hell out of it on PS2. For a PS2 game the graphics are still really good imo.
