yeah im like you with regards to the hype train....games like lost planet and crackdown....killzone and many others that got hyped so much only to find out they were not up to snuff.....i hate that shit

but the show really does deliver. If your a baseball fan and want an incredibly deep franchise then you wont be disappointed.
i made this thread to help with the new additions that havnt been included in a bb game before....everything except the rule 4 draft is in this game. It adds so much to the depth of the franchise mode.

I hear you guy on the hype train nonsense but I will have to agree to disagree a bit. Killzone is one of teh best games I have played in a long time. It has teh best single player campaign for any FPS I ever played. Ever. The multiplayer is awesome also. Crackdown was/is also an amazing game. Collecting orbs alone was just plain addicting.

I'm not sure how anyone couldn't like either of those games but to each his own. As for LOst Planet, yeah that game blew donkey choad.
 
crackdown was alot of fun, and killzone is probably a very good game....but u have to admit that neither game lived up to the hype they got...crackdown especially, allthough it was a blast to play it and collect those orbs

i feel a rental coming.....

Good post, Maynard. I agree with what you said. I'm a huge baseball fan, but I think even if I wasn't, I would still love this game. Its the only game that I play and don't really give a shit about the online aspect of it (and I play games almost exclusively online). Playing against a CPU without touching any sliders on HOF difficulty has never been so engulfing. I'm engulfed in this game and I've never typed the word "engulf" before. Hell, I don't even think I've ever used the word in a sentence while speaking.

The Show is what you would hope every sports game could be similar to. Its just that damn good and doesn't disappoint.

The ball kept bouncing up there and shit and we're both frantically jumping up for it and it took like 30 seconds for one of us to get the rebound. It was hilarious.

Like Cho said, I don't even remember Crackdown having any hype. I think nearly everyone bought it for the Halo beta and were more than pleasantly surprised after actually playing the game.

I personally think Killzone lived up to the hype. Now granted, I take into account that there is no way that any game could have lived up to the hype that it had but it is every bit as amazing as I'd hoped.
 
I'm with the throngs of MLB 09 The Show "fanboys" this game is flat out the best thing since Halo to me. I haven't been hooked on a game this hard in a LONG time, and I'm hard on baseball games so I am never the glass half full guy when its comes to Video Game Baseball. I can say the online for the most part after the 1st week has been damn near flawless(save 2 nights ago when they were HOPEFULLY prepping the servers for the patch) and if you stick within the community the games are fair and competitive(AWESOME is the word that really fits). I can't speak much on the offline game as I have been WAY too tied up in online action.
