This is in no particular order, feel free to put another players name into the hat, please include stats when doing so. I took the "main" 3, I know Kevin Durant belongs in this discussion but I don't think a floundering OKC is going to get him a nod. If they were in the playoff race, maybe, just maybe.

You all know I'm going to homer this one and go with LeBron. I want to know what you guys think. Let the discussion begin.
 
Wade imo deserves it more than anyone. Take away Wade from the Heat and you have a cellar dweller. Lakers and Cavs are still playoff contenders without their respective stars. When it boils down to which player is "most valuable" to their team, regardless of stats, Wade is in fact it. Wade should be the MVP, hands down. While he may not win it for whatever reason, he is just straight dominating this year. And it's a beautiful thing to see, especially after the injuries that plagued him a season ago. It isn't all offense either. He is beating both Bron Bron and Kobe on the defensive end as well as far as blocks and steals go. I didn't know he had a high BPG average than Bron until now. That's :bow:.

You're taking the definition too literally. The NBA MVP, just like the NFL MVP, doesn't mean Most Valuable to one's team. It means Most Valuable to the League as a whole.
 
Wade is in Chris Paul's position last year while LeBron is in Kobe's position last year. Wade deserves it more, but LeBron has the 1 seed. LeBron obviously has more talent around him, but he also deserves something out of it. LeBron and Wade for Co-MVP! Kobe for LVP.
 
Co-MvP would be pretty sweet, but they hardly ever do that. Lebron's team having the 1 seed will probably give him the edge.
 
While Mike makes a valid point for Wade, I hate the argument of "better" talent around him. Do you think those guys, aside from Ilgauskus would even consider coming to Cleveland? Some of them were involved in trade deals, but that was to get LeBron better talent. Would Varajao/Pavlovich resigned if LeBron wasn't there? One move that continues to puzzle me to this day is when Boozer left for $$$. Imagine if Boozer was still with the Cavs it wouldn't of taken them as long as it has to climb to the top of the East.

I agree. I've never understood the point of arguing against a player due to his teammates. My theory is look at the player's impact on the team and look at what he's done with what he has to work with and the Cavs have the best record in the league. At this point there is nothing that Wade is doing that LeBron isn't doing on a better team.

LBJ, hands down. Dude is the best player in the league, has the Cavs at 1 in the East with an amazing record, and he's averaging 28-7-7. Not sure how this is a debate. Yes, D-Wade and the 30 per look great and if you take him off the Heat they are a lotto team....But still, averaging 28-7-7 on the league's best team should mean MVP.

Nice stats + possibly best record in league = easy win.

Exactly, the NBA MVP really is probably one of the easiest awards to predict, because all the voters do is give the award to the player with the best stats on the team with the best or among the best records.

Look at the award the last five years.

07-08 Kobe Best Player on West #1 Seed.
06-07 Dirk Best Player on West #1 Seed.
05-06 and 04-05 Nash Best Player on West #1 Seed.
03-04 KG Best Player on West #1 Seed.

I always hate these threads/debates because there's really no "official" definition as to what "MVP" means so people are free to make up their own criteria. But the formula for winning the award is pretty clear to me.

And that's something the NBA needs to change. Guys like CP3 deserved that award. Kobe didn't get the MVP, he got the "Lifetime Achievement" award. The NBA just needed to give him one sometime and they figured last year was their best chance to give it to him. We all know CP3 was the true MVP last year.
