Here's a guy that just owned the 80's and at times during his career was considered one of the best workers in the world, Terry Gordy. I watched a match that he wrestled under a mask when he was 15 years old. This match here was about a year or two later, just before he hooked up with Michael Hayes..
Here's a great brawl between David Von Erich and Terry Gordy. The Von Erich/Freebird feud put World Class on the map and was the hottest feud in pro wrestling from 82-84.
Von Erichs vs Freebirds Bad Street Match
Thery've had so many classic matches, but this is easily one of my favorites. And the crowd was white hot.
Terry Gordy wins a tournament to be crowned the first UWF "World" Heavyweight Champion. As a side note, I forgot how great Jim Duggan was in MId South. He was actually a cocky babyface who wore suits, not the half tard with a two by four screaming about "Mericuh"..
He formed what was arguably one of the best tag teams in wrestling history with Dr Death Steve Williams. Unfortunately, most of their best work was in Japan so a lot of American wrestling fans were not able to fully appreciate their work. They are going against another legendary "gaijin" in Japanese professional wrestling history in Stan Hansen, who is teamed with Dan Spivey, who obviously took a break from his Waylon Mercy gimmick to don the single strap singlet....
Figured I'd throw this in as this match as it has 3 top 100 wrestlers involved (Williams, Kawada, and Misawa).
This was a dream match. Gordy and Williams against the Steiner Brothers. Not much more to be said, very intense and stiff....
Here is Terry Gordy vs Cactus Jack in the King of the Death Match tourney in Japan 1995. Unfortunately he's not even close to the worker he was just 2 years before. At that time he overdosed on pain killers and slipped into a coma, causing permanent brian damage. However, as chronicled in Mick Foley's book, we saw some glimpses of the worker that he was during this match. I probably bought about 15 tapes of Japanese death matches from the RF Video Kiosk at the mall, this show was one of them..
