Should Roger Craig be in the Hall of Fame?

I saw Roger Craig play live ... not just on NFL Films. I don't deny for a second he's a great player, but that team was filled with great players. If Roger Craig is a Hall of Famer, so is John Taylor. Both are incredible players, but not Hall of Famers. If there's a Niner who deserves to be in the HOF, it's Charles Haley.

I've been around for awhile, so I've seen football players and Roger Craig was a football player. Was he perfect in every way? Yes. But a Hall of Famer? I don't think so but maybe. Roger Craig was a damn fine player, but he was never a Hall of Fame player.

When discussions came up every year of the best at their craft when they were playing, Roger Craig was never discussed.

A damn fine player in a system he was perfectly suited for. A damn fine player whose Niners' jersey should instantly be retired. A man who was part of three Super Bowl winners. He has nothing to apologize for, but much like a lot of kickers and punters, the fullback position is simply not seen as overly relevant where the Hall of Fame is concerned, and Craig's numbers are not HOF ... they're almost HOF.

No, but he played a vital role in all 3 of those championships. Scored 3 TDs in their first appearance with him in 85. Won Offensive POTY in 1988 with over 2k yards from scrimmage and had a great run in the post-season.

Totally disagree with this. Faulk was a 1,500 yard rusher and receiving threat. Craig was never, ever at Faulk's level. I might agree Craig was before his time, but he was never the rushing threat Faulk was.

To me, he's the Ken Anderson of running backs (except he's won), in that, he's that threshold, last guy out of the Hall of Fame at his position.

So, no...and rightfully so. Great career...not quite a Hall of Fame.

Dave, its like you have two people logging into your account. You say things that kind of make sense, then you make a post out of nowhere thats laughably bad. If you put McNabb in the HOF, then you open the doors for every above-average QB who had staying power. There is nothing in McNabb's career that indicates greatness.

McNabb is SOOOOOO very far away from the HOF, it's ludicrous to even bring him up in such a discussion.

McNabb was never the leader in any important statistical category, not once. Not yardage, not TDs, not completion %, rating, attempts, completions...nothing. In fact, he was consistently under the top 10 in yardage year after year, save for twice....in a Reid passing offense no less. And I just can't forget him opening the 2003 season with a 53.09 QB rating over the first 9 games. Holy shit that's bad. I'll remember this first...because I HAD HIM ON MY FANTASY TEAM, THE FUCKER! McNabb was so hit'n miss. He could look like Steve Young one week, and Steve DeBerg the next two weeks.
