Well yeah, obviously you wouldn't. But what's your explanation for this 'most overrated actor of all time' being in so many great films...despite him? I'd think if he was mediocre these roles would have gone to someone else. And no one here said his range parallels the likes of Di Caprio or Depp. However, is he a great actor? I certainly think so and see no proof to feel otherwise.
So many great films? According to who? Certainly not me.
American Psycho was definitely great - one of my favorite films.
Batman Begins was great. Bale did a solid job here.
The Dark Knight can be considered great by some - not by me - and only because of Heath Ledger, not Bale.
Not to mention, Bale is not even close to being the best Batman ever. Those movies are great because of the story. The fact that Bale is literally hiding behind a mask and a costume for the majority of the movie proves that those movies were good despite him - definitely not because of him. Honestly, in my opinion, he was a shitty Bruce Wayne. He lacks the charisma, arrogance, and wit that Bruce Wayne should have. As Batman, who gives a fuck. He was behind a mask and grumbled all his parts. Anybody can do that.
I was exaggerating with "most overrated actor of all time." I moreso meant that Bale has no range and lacks any on screen charisma, wit, and humor. He can play one role and one role only.
Bale is very limited in what he can do. He picks and chooses his roles very carefully and it's important he does so or he will be exposed. Hell, Hugh Jackman was the star of the Prestige, and Russell Crowe of 3:10 to Yuma. Bale can only play a serious role with little to no real emotion.
How can you call an actor who lacks range a "great" actor? A great actor, in my opinion, has range and personality. Bale has none, therefore there is no way I can think of him as a great actor.
Bale probably wouldn't even make my top 10 actors, yet I hear so many people calling him a great actor and one of the best actors out there.
Lastly, nobody can prove anything. This is all preference. You have yours, I have mine. We can agree to disagree and it's all fine by me.
