Temporary, but they last a long time. Same with food that you buy.

Also, do the girl stuff as soon as possible, it lights up basically everything on the map which is definitely worth it.

I really liked this game, although aspects of it seemed so silly to me (i.e. - most of the side missions). The kung fu shit is fucking great, despite not being as good as Batman, it's great for an open world game. It does get a little ridiculous in the game (Guns aren't big in Hong Kong...until I mow down 40 armed thugs -- Awesome having moves that are described as breaking legs/arms...except those same guys come right back with no problem).

They are small issues, I just think the game takes itself so seriously, it's weird to then have stuff like that. Still, a super fun game and worth playing. I hope it turns into a franchise that is good (unlike the True Crime franchise).

Like I posted in the "...Accomplishments" thread, I finally beat this title (no Hundo %, no Platinum... but I dig the game enough that I might go for it).

STORY SPOILERS:

 

Everything Wei Shen touched, almost everyone he talked to... turned to ash, whether it was from his own doing or otherwise. :smh:

I get that the man was hired to bring down the crime syndicate from the inside out (he didn't as Broken Nose Chiang, Pockmark and the guy who left with Lucy Liu's character are still alive) but damned if it wasn't by the book.

From what I've heard, they've cut a lot out of the game (it showed in the story with Winston's story arch) so either that might become DLC later or it'll be like Alpha Protocol where we won't ever see like a 1/3rd of the game because of completing/shipping schedule concerns.

That being said, it's still a game I highly recommend if you dig open world stuff.

And FYI, I believe that this game, along with Darksiders 2 and several others, and will be part now a two for $60 deal at Toys R Us next week. I wonder if Best Buy will match that? I know there are certain deals they won't match although it seems everything with them is YMMV.

Yeah, although the dating stuff also kind of reeks of having huge chunks cut off. Be prepared to go on a date, get a huge bonus for it, and then never hear from the girl again (it happens a couple of times -- you will hear back from one but it barely makes sense in the context of the story).

Yeah, I noticed that. So strange. DLC maybe? Why would you have Emma Stone voice Amy, only to have her in the game for twenty minutes?

You're right though, some stuff is just lame like the broken bones and shit. I also have the worst time trying to get the timing right for those combos. One of the strangest things I've seen thus far was a side mission on a barge way out in the water. The dude wanted me to take care of some thugs shooting craps ON THE BARGE because they might draw police attention. Really?!?

Otherwise, the game is fucking awesome, and much like with any good open world game I'm hooked. I just played for like six hours straight. I tried to get clean up a lot of side stuff.

The next story mission I have is The Wedding. Based on Jay's earlier post I'm guessing some serious shit goes down.

I like the fact that when you buy certain vehicles you unlock new racing events based on what classes ss they are.

Right now I have found seven of the jade statues and my health meter is almost completely blue. I'm guessing it upgrades to another color after that?

I thought that that was a great scene too. I really liked a lot of the story in this, it's just a shame that at times it feels like something was missing.

How does it look on PS3? I played on 360 because that was all that was at the Redbox I swung by, and it looked not bad, but some of the PC graphics I've seen for it look amazing.

I think it looks really good. It's weird though. From a far, it looks pretty mediocre. But when you pay attention everything looks very detailed and crisp. When Wei gets covered in blood it looks amazing. The only thing that I've noticed that is lacking are store fronts and the water doesn't look anywhere near as good as it does in a game like Just Cause 2.

One thing that is starting to piss me off are the clothing stores. Some of the clothing items give you bonuses if you buy the complete ensemble (I refuse to use the term "outfit" because I don't have a vagina). But the problem is that the store only sells one or two parts of the ensemble. For instance, I can't for the life of me find the pants and shoes that go with the suit jacket that gives you a 10% police bonus. It's stupid as fuck.
