This has to be one of the weirdest transfers ever. Need a bad ass box to box midfielder like you can't imagine, its OK, lets go spend 45 on Juan Mata. Don't get me wrong, I think Mata is awesome, and would take him in United any day. But why not address the needs, the obvious needs that this team has.

Also, for this to work, which it can, its going to take David Moyes having to step away from 4-4-2 for good. Ideally for me, it has, HAS to be Kagawa, Wazza, and Mata with RVP up front. Now, will Moyes do the obvious and ever play that lineup? Prolly not. Unless he has another major trick up his sleeve, I don't get it.

As for today..... Meh, they were going to vet get smashed by City in the final anyway. Lol

Well 1ke, I don't think there are many options right now which address United's core needs. A player of Mata's quality being available in January at a fair price is pretty much unbelievable. I know Mourinho simple doesn't appreciate Mata's style but I think this is a major tactical error which will cost Chelsea long-term by the way. Man U are going to need more than £37m to turn this around anyway so I don't think this is a case of Moyes wasting his entire budget.

Talking formation, what about an unbalanced 442 with Van Persie and Rooney upfront, Mata at 10 and a variety of wingers occupying either the left or right wing, with two holding central midfielders. I don't think there's any combination of Man U's best players right now which would offer adequate width from the midfield. This makes United's search for wingbacks an even higher priority.

Also since City will qualify in a CL spot and assuming they win against Sunderland whoever comes in 6th would get Europa which I think is stupid and should go to the runner up.
