Surprise teams of 10?

I nailed the Rangers last year as a surprise team.. I think the Mariners will flop this year.

My surprise teams in 2010..

AL - White Sox
NL - Diamondbacks

Agree wholeheartedly. No team employing Kotchman and Langerhans in their everyday lineup is going anywhere. When you factor in Figgins and Wilson also in their lineup, I just don't see where the power will come from.

LMAO, the Marlins and Braves have been getting better "talent wise" since last years trade deadline.

And the Mets made some moves, however they still need another SP. Which rest assured they will get.

Philly's are going to have to fight for the division crown...

Brandon Webb and Dan Haren are as good a starting two as you can now a days IMO. And trading for Edwin Jackson was a huge move that was very over looked. The only question is can Chad Qualls hold up?

Call us cocky, but winning two NL pennants and a World Series in the last two years plus improving at third base batting wise, and adding Roy Halladay, I think we have to be the easiest pick in the NL of who wins a division this year.

My surprise team is going to be how far the Dodgers fall this year!

LAD will end up finishing in 4th or 5th place in the NL West. The loss of of Wolf and the inexperience of that rotation will be the down fall. They can hit no doubt and their bull pen is solid but I just dont see a strong starting five.

LMAO, outside of Holliday your rotation isn't that great and your bull pen is suspect to say the least. Plus everyone in your division has gotten better since last year. Outside of the Nationals all the other teams in the NLE will be battling it out for the division crown. You will be surprised how many games the Phillies lose this year!

Disagree, I think the Braves took a step back.. the Mets are still the Mets.. and the Nats won't do anything.

The Marlins look like Philly's only true threat.

If the Braves bull pen holds up I think they can do some damage. Mets are a solid team, pitching is a little suspect but they will add something before the season starts.

Braves don't have the offense to hold up IMO.

Mcann and Chipper Jones are the only two dangerous threats in that line up, and Chipper isn't even a given to be in the line up each night. Yunel Escobar is eh and Troy Glaus is a bargain bin discount that they hope will look like a designer shirt but is most likely going to rip after using it a couple times.

I don't see Nate Mclouth, Eric Hinske, or Melky Cabrera tearing the cover off the ball and i'm not sure how much of an impact Schafer and Heyward will have this season.

Braves just don't scare me enough on offense to say they should be a viable threat in the NL East.

This. The Braves will be a force in 2011 however. I just hope we can get one more playoff berth before the end of the world.

Who besides Hanley is a threat on the Marlins offense? Jorge Cantu? They have good pitching, but it usually doesn't get them to the top. Plus our pitching pretty much matches up with them Halladay and Johnson both aces, then Hamels and Blanton, they have Nolasco and Sanchez. Not like they dominate us in that either. Our bull pen is "shaky" but it was last year too and we got to the World Series. Don't worry Bronco, don't have to be so bitter over last year

Me being a homer = Mets are the surprise team of 2010. Honestly though, Ollie has been working hard, Pelfrey does have nasty stuff. Maine is a headcase but a pretty legit 4 starter. Jose is coming back as seen on MLB Network, Beltran will be back in May and I believe that Bay can put up the numbers that Beltran would have until then. Then when we get Beltran back itll be an added bonus.

It all really hinges on Wright being able to bounce back in my mind. People forget that we led the league in BA last year. All we gotta be able to do is knock some of those runs in.

People act like the Mets will be shit when they literally are returning the same guys from the 09 team, which a lot of people felt would make the WS...which is funny because they didn't have a #2 starter last year and this year.

Just because the Mets had one of the worst seasons of luck with injuries ever, doesn't mean the MEts are bad. They should be in the hunt for the wildcard this year.

As a huge M's fan I have a really bad feeling they will be lucky to finish around .500. Lee and Hernandez will keep the team decent but the offense is still MIA. Yes Figgins and Bradley are decent additions but our main HR (Branyan) threat isn't coming back. Griffey might add some pop seeing as how he is healthier than last year but I'm very very skeptical about us being a playoff team. If we do make it to the playoffs though, look out. We are built for the playoffs. Great 1-2 punch and a few solid OBP guys.

If Seattle reaches the playoffs then teams should be worried. That said, like you said, I dont know if 162 games will be their thing. Got some veteran leadership and pitching on that team, and that can go a long way.

The Giants won't be near the playoffs imo. Love them to death, but we were luckly last year and our offense hasn't improved much and I'm not sure MadBum is ready yet (I love the kid, but he's like 20) and Bengie Molina was just a terrible signing. Huff isn't much better then Garko, and I don't like DeRosa much. We were lucky last year, and I don't see us having the same luck. 80 wins is what I think. No playoff contention.

One thing that will surprise me, is if Casey Kotchman hits over .275, or hits over 10 home runs.

I'll also be surprised if a team can win a division with no double digit HR hitters in it's infield.
