IN NEED FOR A 3RD POINT GUARD?

These days on average NBA teams have 3 point guards. Currently the Los Angles Clippers only have 2, Telfair and Davis. The Clippers traded away Mardy Collins who was there 3rd Point Guard at the start of the season, to the Timberwolves as a part of the Corey Brewer trade.

And since then it’s always been two Point Guards, but is there too much pressure on Baron Davis and Sebastian Telfair is the question. It would seem like there doing fine at the moment but Coach Dunleavy thinks that a 3rd point guard would only benefit the team.

“We currently have Yakhouba Diawara getting no minutes who might benefit by being traded to a team that will give him minutes, we’ve got a lot of players that can play Small Forward and Diawara is one of them. If we were able to get a 3rd Point Guard by trading him then id feel much better knowing we’d have another option at PG if Baron or Sebastian got injured.”

If a trade did occur its most likely that the guard would only see minutes if an injury occurred or someone was struggling. But still, the Clippers say they’d much prefer Diawara getting minutes elsewhere and having another option at Point Guard.

CLIPPERS SIGN GUARD BOBBY BROWN, DIAWARA HEADING TO HORNETS

Last night the Clippers and Hornets agreed on a deal that sent Bobby Brown to Los Angles in exchange for Yakhouba Diawara. Bobby Brown will be used as the Clippers third option at Point Guard that will see limited minutes but will help out Baron Davis and Sebastian Telfair.

Diawara will hopefully see more minutes in New Orleans than he did with the Clippers, both players benefit from the trade in that they will both see more minutes than they have been. Brown is only a 1 year player but has great pace on the court and can shoot the 3 ball very well.

2nd Month Into The Season

ROOKIES OF THE MONTH

CLIPPERS GRIFFIN MAKES BIG IMPROVEMENT 2 MONTHS INTO THE SEASON
The rookie out of Oklahoma Blake Griffin has made big strides comparing the first month of the season to the second. His first month was solid but hes lifted his game and has shown his ability to score, rebound, and defend. He leads his team in Rebounds Per Game with 5.6 per game and averages just over 14 points per game. These averages of Blake Griffin seem to slowly be rising as each game passes as he continues to improve all aspects of his game.
Blake has earned the Rookie of the Month award for December along with Jonny Flynn and hopefully will continue to impress as each month passes.

A REAL CHALLENGE AHEAD, HOW GOOD ARE THEY?

Currently on a 6 game winning streak after a thrilling win in OT against the Blazers, the Clippers have suprised many teams this season and are ranked 2nd in the West at the moment, the highest ranked they've been this season.

But perhaps the biggest indicator of how skilled this new look Clippers team is the challenge they face in 2 days. They face the number 1 seeded Los Angeles Lakers in an LA showdown, then after that there faced up against 3rd seeded (west) the Memphis Grizzlies.
Firstly the Lakers as everyone knows are currently the best team in the NBA after winning the championship last year.

The Clippers are very capable, but just how much have they improved is the question. Everybody will have to step up and do there part if the Clippers are a chance of winning against the Lakers, and looking at there season so far, there definately in with a chance.

Shutting down Kobe Bryant is near impossible but Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy will have to come up with something to try and slow him down. This is main factor in order to beat the Lakers and also to see just how new and improved this 2009/10 Clippers team is. Stay tuned Clippers fans.
