The news around Tim Tebow has been quiet since he was cut by the Jets, but it’s been widely assumed that Tebow is still hoping to catch on with some NFL team. The people advising Tebow, however, may have come to the conclusion that there simply isn’t an NFL team willing to give him a shot.

David Fleming writes in ESPN the Magazine that members of Tebow’s camp are privately admitting that his NFL run is probably over.

Although Tebow did have some success as the Broncos’ starting quarterback, leading Denver to a playoff win after the 2011 season, Fleming quotes an unnamed scout as saying that even during his best run with the Broncos, the work he put on tape did nothing for NFL personnel people.

“He’s not a quarterback,” the scout said. “When you look at his run two years ago, when you watch the tape and break it down, he wasn’t really doing anything that impressive. He’s a tough guy, a great leader, a great person. But he isn’t a good enough quarterback to have all the distractions that come with him.”

Among the problems NFL teams have identified about Tebow, according to the report, are that he has a hard time remembering plays, he didn’t run the offense well and got the Broncos flagged for delay of game too often, he struggled to read defenses and he didn’t have the self-awareness to know what he wasn’t doing well and work on improving those issues.

There’s also, obviously, the fundamental issue of passing accuracy: Tebow’s career completion rate of 47.9 percent is way too low, and Fleming describes a scene in Broncos practice in which coach John Fox was aghast to see Tebow throw a pass so badly that it landed on the ground far in front of the intended receiver’s feet.

Add it all up, and no matter how exciting a season he had with the Broncos in 2011, Tebow just doesn’t look like an NFL quarterback. He and the people around him may be coming around to accepting that.

This dude should probably sit down with Michael Robinson and learn something...Robinson will have a ten year career in the NFL as a role player. He was a QB and WR at Penn State. Comes into the NFL, he gladly moves to RB but plays FB, motion TE, special teams, etc. There is no reason why Tebow shouldn't be able to do this, but he's never been willing.

Dumbest decision Tebow ever made was choosing to go to the NY Jets.

Always thought this was retarded. Only opinion that matters is the owner. If the owner is a weirdo pansy who bends to the medias will then yeah Id be worried. But objectively you have a guy who's a backup QB , a stout runner , and can probably improve the redzone offense of a majority of NFL teams.
"I dont want him because then they'll keep asking me alot of questions" seems like a retarded reason not to bring a guy in.

The only reason Tebow isn't on an NFL roster is because a specialist isn't worth the trade off for the constant scrutiny the organization will get from ESPN & others. It's a massive distraction. If Tebow was the same player but a guy who was unknown that the media didn't care about, he'd have teams lined up around the block to make him a backup.

Nobody wants a superstar third string QB on the roster for obvious reasons (see Jets circus last season). If he's anonymous, with his skill set, he's on a roster with no issue.

To me I see no value in him as a QB or a FB or an H-back. I was just making the point that if he's "anonymous" there isn't a line of teams around the block for him to play back up QB. He's been an H-Back for 5 years by this point.

Never understood why people kept trying to say moving him was the right thing to do either..

Outside of the QB position his athleticism is nothing to write home about and he has no experience catching the football, taking a handoff, feeling out blocks along the line, run/pass blocking, tackling, playing in coverage or anything else that a move would require.

If he can't or won't learn everything he needs to know to play QB in the 10 or so years he's been playing the position, then I don't see how he would seamlessly pick up the nuances of another position.

That said, I still think that he could be a reasonable backup for a team where the starter is entrenched. If you throw this kid on a team where there could even be a hint of a QB battle would just be another disaster.

He may have been getting bad advice for so long by now though where he's a lost cause.

A sad state for the league when organizations are even considering things like scrutiny from ESPN, while making important choices.
