Teams lined up to sign Mike Vick despite the media circus, despite being out of the game, despite past questions about his ability to perform at a consistent level, even despite injury concerns because he had talent that could be useful to an NFL team. If no one is willing to sign Tebow, it isn't because of the media circus, isn't because of rust, isn't because of consistency, it is because they don't think he can be useful.

This is a cutthroat league. Teams will do anything if it means winning one more game or making people waste gameplanning time preparing for some bench player. If they aren't even willing to use a roster spot on this guy, it means he isn't useful.

I've always thought that having a running QB as a backup QB would be useful in the NFL. If your starter gets hurt, the backup QB comes into the game and you don't really have to worry as much about timing with WRs, reading defenses, etc. Have Tebow run a conservative offense where he doesn't turn the ball over and rely on your defense to win. This theory was severely tested with Joe Webb's performance against GB in the playoffs, but I think with Colin Kaepernick's success that a guy like Tebow would still be in demand.

Maybe Tebow can be the next Jim Jensen?

I've seen analysis, coaches and former players(who have been involved with the game for literally decades), who have said that the only reason more teams aren't willing to take a chance on Tebow is because of the media circus. Sorry but I'm going to side with those who were born and raised by people who taught professional football players how to play the game over you who have never coached a day in your life.

You're totally misconstruing what those guys are saying. They say he'd be worth taking a shot on AS A DEVELOPMENTAL PROSPECT/3RD QB... if not for the stuff that comes with him. That's the whole point.

The market has spoken (or is at least speaking) on Tebow...the Broncos success in 2011 was given to Dennis Allen and Mike McCoy...both have since taken head coaching jobs (for division rivals no less) while Tebow was promptly traded to the Jets and then played on special teams.

Partially, Tebow is to blame. The Broncos were kind enough to take a LESSER DEAL for Tebow and send him to the Jets instead of Jacksonville because Tebow chose to go to the Jets. The Jets then used him as a special teamer and fourth string quarterback, or whatever. Meanwhile, perhaps Tebow goes to Jacksonville and would have started most of, if not all year. Tebow's fault...and now he has no stock. Sucks for him, I guess.

Is the league full of scared owners, GMs, and coaches? Yeah. But let's keep it real...are you willing to risk your job for a guy that can't hit 50% of his passes, and while his TD:INT ratio wasn't terrible, fumbled the ball at a rate only Tony Banks has seen at QB?

Maybe Tebow has some magic. Listen, I'd give him a shot...but I don't know if I'd give him a shot with my multi-million dollar job on the line, either. Do I think Tebow can succeed long term? Yeah...to a point. But you need to go absolutely all-in with him and create some mind-fuck offense that brings football back to the 1940's. It works in the modern NFL in small doses and for short periods of time. The Broncos in 2011 had some success doing just that. You saw Kaepernick and Griffin see success with the read option in 2012. But, both of those teams are going to ask their QB to do more in 2013 as they phase out the read option from their offense. Tebow's issue is that no one believes he can evolve from being anything more than a 1950's QB and his unwillingness to move positions will probably be his undoing. The gimmicks that are helping some young QBs succeed will be slowed and eventually stopped with film study. Its just old assignment football that is kind of forgotten about in the NFL these days...look at what happened with the Wildcat gimmick. Hell, look at Kaepernick in the Super Bowl...it came down to one play and the defense played some simple assignment football and won the game for the Ravens. It'll catch on and Kaepernick, Griffin, etc will need to evolve and have coaches that believe they can. No coach believes Tebow can.

Michael Robinson is going to make a 10 year career out of what Tebow should do.
