Never understood why people kept trying to say moving him was the right thing to do either..
Outside of the QB position his athleticism is nothing to write home about and he has no experience catching the football, taking a handoff, feeling out blocks along the line, run/pass blocking, tackling, playing in coverage or anything else that a move would require.
If he can't or won't learn everything he needs to know to play QB in the 10 or so years he's been playing the position, then I don't see how he would seamlessly pick up the nuances of another position.
That said, I still think that he could be a reasonable backup for a team where the starter is entrenched. If you throw this kid on a team where there could even be a hint of a QB battle would just be another disaster.
He may have been getting bad advice for so long by now though where he's a lost cause.
