Not in love with the pick of Shumpert for the Knicks. Sure, he's a defensive minded guard but with Singleton and even Faried still on the board?

I guess they figure Shumpert can get more PT than Singleton (who's mainly a 3) and they need a back-up PG even though he's more of a 2.

Hopefully they can get a second pick somewhere along the line and add some size.

fuck yea i love the thompson pick. id rather take an american who played at a big time university than some fucker from east europe. also he can come in right away and develop at the same time as irving. it will be interesting to see if come trade deadline hickson or anderson get traded

Yeah I just read a bit about him and apparently he had a crazy blocks percentage in college.

I hope he can put on some weight but if he's really a shot blocker he can definitely be of use, because Zaza is not very good at protecting the rim so it's hard to play him off the bench too often when Joe Johnson and Jamal Crawford suck at stopping penetration (assuming we re-up Crawford which I hope we do not).

Yeah, I just looked it up...two years ago, Benson had 20 points, 6 boards, and 4 blocks against #1 KU...completely shitted all over Cole Aldrich, who went 2-10, and had trouble stopping Benson offensively as well (and Aldrich was a pretty damn good defensive player).

I would've liked to see Jacob Pullen get drafted, but he will get a shot to make a team, so it's not that big of a deal. It's just funny how bad the NBA draft is and how much teams favor youth, size, and potential. It's especially funny to see other Big 12 guys go ahead of Pullen like Cory Joseph (really?) and Josh Selby (Willie Warren).

I watched the Nike Hoop Summit 2010 thats where the fascination began. i saw him dominate American players in that game and break Dirk's scoring record against supposed all world talent Jared Sullinger. i went to Open practices in Lexington.
I take it most people around here dont watch the Nike Hoop Summit? its much better than the Mickey Ds and Jordan Brand games IMO. I view about 5 different UK basketball related forums year round, so id say ive probably viewed every internet video involving Kanter possible.



Josh Harrellson who was a bum his JR year said Enes Kanter is the best player he's ever played against. Harrellson played with Orton, Cousins, and Patterson the previous year. He completely credits hard work and Enes Kanter mentoring him for his development his sr year. He said it was playing with Enes every day that gave him the confidence that he could hang with anyone on the NCAA level. He wasnt fazed by Sullinger like most thought he would be since he played against a better player in Enes Kanter every day. A freshman whose English is still suspect helps turn a struggling upperclassman into a NBA draft pick.



Name one person on this board that wouldve thought going into this year that Josh Freaking Harrellson would get drafted by a NBA team.

There were some people who didn't believe he would be drafted in the NBA after the NCAA season ended.

Some say he could find his way to a bench role because of hustle and doing the dirty work. Others say he's just not going to be able to make it at this level.

Having no Summer League certainly won't help the kid.

Interesting. Sounds like everyone who has played with/against him and with/against Cousins says he is better. Also by all accounts he's a great makeup and aptitude/attitude guy, an example being how he earned English in less than a year.


So we have a kid who is

- taller than Cousins
- better around the basket than Cousins according to coaches/teammates
- more coachable than Cousins
- less of a character risk than Cousins
- outplayed the reigning NCAA POY quite noticeably in a legit sanctioned competition


And of course Cousins is the one who is considered the surer bet. He gets drafted #3 overall, and despite the concerns, everyone pretty much agreed he was a great prospect, yet the kid who is taller and works harder, the one who anyone with an informed opinion says is a better prospect, is a questionable pick?

(And for the record, I like Demarcus Cousins and his game. I just don't get why we have blinders on with Kanter and his time here in America.)

The second round was like looking at the Big Sky third team and the 14th man on an NBADL roster. Brutal.
