We had a defense give up a TD in three plays before the QB even touched the ball.
They gave up five passing TDs in the first half (3 to the same guy) and allowed a TE to look like an all-pro halfback. If New England would have kept their foot on the gas the whole game they would have won the game by 80. No QB is going to win consistently with a defense that plays like that.
And before you come back with the "OH THAT WAS TOM BRADY!" nonsense... Go look at the game against Minny where Denver allowed Percy Harvin to dice them up...
This defense is bad and were able to stay afloat because we ran the ball and kept them off the field as much as possible. But the talent is simply not there.
Dawkins is likely gone after this season, same for Andre Goodman. This team needs a veteran safety and athletic CB much more than they need to invest in a QB.
I don't really care if you agree with that assessment or not. But it would seem like the guy making decisions (or the guy who actually matters) would agree with my line of thinking.
I hate to jump in and :troll: here, but all season people were making this point, and I just don't see it at all. Denver's time of possession ranked 25th in the NFL, and they were hovering around average in offensive plays and first downs. Their third down percentage was 30th as well.
What I think is the defense needed a healthy Brian Dawkins a lot more than they originally thought. Because that defense played really, REALLY good for a big chunk of the season, and really suffered when he left the line-up.
As far as offense, they've got a ton of holes except for offensive line in my opinion. McGahee gave them a spark, but he's definitely not the guy going forward. Thomas seems like a great #2 threat who's playing #1, and who exactly is the #2 (Decker)? And I couldn't even tell you who the tight end was.
So if I was Elway, I'd stick with Tebow too, simply because I don't have enough picks to fix everything this year. And I honestly think Tebow will improve.
But to give credit where credit is due, this is not that great of a team, and they improved a lot this season. It's an exciting time if you're a Denver fan to see what this team can build into.
