So uh... Does anyone know if this "Defiance" game is any good?
It's... fine so far for me.
They're still working on the VOIP (of ALL the things, THIS is essentially pissing the most people off right now) and the only way to communicate is either scroll commands like "Help Me" and :

o a Stupid Dance::
The character creation amounts to either being a Human or a human-like Alien (dude or chick as per the norm), which starter outfit you'd get and what weapon you start with once you finish the tutorial.
There's A TON of stuff to do in-game in the form of Story and Side Missions as well as Racing Time Trials, Score Rampages (killing bugs with a chaingun is fun) and things called "Ark Falls."
Basically with Ark Falls, you either clear waves of enemies, trying to destroy the Ark crystal that's dropped in the area or BOTH.
The catch is that the more people at these things, the harder the encounter gets... and usually EVERYONE AND THEIR GRANDMOTHER shows up to them.
Makes you wonder where they're at in the Story Missions.
The weapons system feels like Borderlands with weapons rarities and elements; you can also buy/earn gun parts to attach to them later in the game.
The EGO (AKA Perks and Abilities) system allows you to place earned points into categories like Weapon Damage Boosts, Cloaking (GREAT for sniping), Super-Speed and Decoys (cool if you're in a pinch and need to bolt).
From there, you can place modifiers in stuff like more crit damage when you crouch to only taking half-damage when you lose your shields...
All-in-all, it's fun if you can stomach MMOs and 3rd Person Shooters, but bring friends or join a guild if you plan on buying it.
Otherwise, you're grinding for the sake of grinding and learning more about the show lore (it's based on a TV show that's coming out the 15th on Syfy).
