I know this is by the same guys that did Shadows of the Damned, but christ does this look similar. It just appears to be a more serious game as opposed to the over-the-top action and humor SotD had. Maybe it's just the video but the game does not have impressive looks in the slightest.

Also, can someone tell me what their infatuation is with hispanic lead characters? LOL.

I know Swarley said he was waiting on reviews to see whether he should get this today or not. Well, so far they seem to be all over the board. It's sitting at a 76 on Metacritic right now.

Yeah I think I'm going to return Alien today and exchange it for this (hopefully I can find the receipt lol). I'm feeling more in the mood for some gruesome horror rather than psychological/sci-fi horror.

I'm still going to play Alien. I'll just pick it up during Black Friday or something. The Metacritic User Score is still higher for it than this game, too.

Sigh, have heard pretty universally that fairly good gameplay and amazing art design are bogged down in awful plot and character development.

Have been waiting for a really revolutionary survival horror game to follow Amnesia: Dark Descent. The search goes on.

Yeah, I don't get that. And can someone let me know about the controls? Some reviewers say they are archaic and horrible and other impressions have said they are pretty damn good. Kind of like an upgrade to the RE4 controls.

N4G is saying the PS4 version is better. Better particle effects, better shadows and it looks like higher resolution.

I am confident that they just did it to help the performance, because for a game that tight into your player character, missing the bottom chunk of the screen looks awful in videos.

If it isn't for performance reasons, then I think including it in gameplay is just plain stupid. I don't like the "cinematic presentation" at all in that sense. It's a video game, not a movie...and even if their goal was "cinematic presentation" it looks to get in the way of the gameplay, or at least, it would get in the way of the gameplay to me.

One thing I'd be curious about (since I'm not getting this anytime soon) is how the old gen versions are. I could rent the PS3 or 360 version at a Redbox near me, but for whatever reason, Redbox doesn't seem to want to support PS4 of Juan (at least in my area).

From my first impressions:

-The prologue is GREAT for establishing what the game is... a LOT of hiding and teaching you that you AREN'T Rambo here.

-Until you find better gear, you better learn to either stealth kill when you can or hide well.

-START the game on Survival difficulty. Casual is "Normal" but... Normal's for Babies.

Other than that, RENT this game if you REALLY want to play it.

It carries it's Resident Evil 4 roots on its sleeves (look at the director) but there's arbitrary "rules" to follow if you want to succeed in the game...

If you can't handle that, you're gonna be out of some hard-earned money and angry at yourself.
