people on PC are freaking out because they locked the fps at 30 and the letterbox thing...of course both can be fixed with the console commands.
But after that i am hearing really negetive things about the game. mainly that after the initial "honeymoon" phase wears off, the game is a lame duck to people who play horror games.

im going to dl it though cause i dont play horror games and i think it will be a win for me.

I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far. A very Resident Evil 4 / Alan Wake feel to it with some of the survival and stealth aspects of The Last of Us (with lots more gore).

The letterbox thing got on my nerves when I first booted up the game, but once I started playing, I didn't even notice it.

People bitch about everything, especially when it comes to the horror genre, so whatevs.

its good you are enjoying it. i dont think people are bitching for no reason. the issues i am reading have to do with poor design, clunky controls and glitches. some are complaining about it not being scary and just overdone with gore or that the main character is dull. But those are personal preferences. glitches and poor design are something i would have issues with.

I picked it up last night but only played the first chapter. It definitely seems like a cool game. I really don't even notice the screen formatting and the controls seem pretty good to me, granted I haven't used any weapons yet.

You had mentioned something I thought before Twigg, in that it seems very much like Shadows of the Damned...would you say it plays much, if at all, like that? I really want to play this game and I'm chomping at the bit for something to tide me over until Bayonetta 2...yet a lot of what I've seen of this sends me mixed signals.

I know that you loved Shadows of the Damned, so I'm just curious.

I think it plays a TON like SotD, minus the over the top craziness and the humor. But the gameplay is extremely similar.
So far I think the game is pretty cool, but my wife isn't feeling it.
I would like to know if that situation at the end of chapter 2 was unavoidable? I'm guessing it was. Also, what's the point of burning the bodies?

I've gotten some supplies from burning a body.

EDIT: Now I'm not so sure, b/c I've seen supplies on bodies I haven't burned. So I don't know.

Chapter 3 boss fight was pretty fun. Kept getting my ass kicked, then I teleported back to the hospital and did a couple upgrades in areas I knew I needed for the boss fight. Found a decent path through the area to lead him and was able to take him down.

I'm really enjoying the game so far.

Yeah, that's my point. They seem to automatically drop items, sometimes, and burning them doesn't seem to do anything additional.

I think I understand now. Some enemies will go down to the ground but they haven't been finished off and can get back up. Throwing a lit match on them is an easy way to finish them off without using ammunition.

The more I play it, the more I'm enjoying it. It's not scary but I like the setting, the gameplay and the enemies.

So, was about to buy this game on Steam because I heard that PC was the way to go...and then I won it at a stupid bar trivia thing, luckily for the Juan. Booted it up tonight. Letterbox instantly irritated as expected, but it is wearing off. Already have predictions on the story, but really do love the art direction. It's weird that people say the graphics aren't that great, because while they aren't the best ever, it's not like they're much worse than most out there. Especially for one of those generational gap games.

Anyway, have to get a lot in tonight because tomorrow is Bayonetta 2.

Swarley was right, chapter 3 was pretty bad ass. I'm really into this game now.

I love how they do the hidden keys thing with the lockers in the back room of the hospital.
