haha typing has nothing to do with writing. time and again it needs to be explained that commenting here is like notes on a fridge. I'll worry about correct spelling and punctuation where it matters most. Here aint it.

football savvy = just a slang term, try not to over think it.

It speaks volumes of how great Rice was that its almost impossible for an average guy to put a top 5 list together without googling or just naming randoms from there current era.

Alworth , Largent , Maynard , etc...those guys arent in the same stratosphere with Rice.

The ironic part is the late 80s-90s did in fact have significantly better athletes at the position that previous eras. Guys like Hutson have much bigger gaps between he and the next man in his era.But Rices gap between he and the next WR all time is huge.

Randy Moss is weird. Hes the most dangerous weapon Ive ever seen at WR.If you poked me hard enough Id say hes the best weapon on a football field since Gale Sayers. Hes been the catalyst to the 2 highest scoring offenses of all time. QBs have career years and MVP type seasons with him. Arguably 2 of the greatest seasons a WR has ever had.
Yet knowing his talent and obvious ability , his numbers are a letdown and his overall career is easily overshadowed by peers.

You extract his brain and put him in an all time draft. Im not sure he wouldnt go number 1. But when you take into account his personality thered be 5-6 guys this era alone id take ahead of him.

Only player I can name that can legitimately rank no.2 or number 20 and still be perfectly rated on an all time list.

Because there is no competitor to the throne of Best WR of all time, some things should just be consensus.

Lofton- Other than Bullet Bob Hayes and Randy Moss I cant name a more legitimate deep threat. His yards per catch ((far more meaningful than YPC for a rb btw)) are astronomical. But he wasnt the every down anywhere on the field threat some of the others were. Top 10 easily.

Most football savvy observers recognize that Art Monk wasnt even as good as Gary Clark, and there were years you could argue he was the third best WR on his own team.

I suppose you could argue reasonably that TO could be a fringe top 10 guy, but he has tons of holes in his game and I think it would be pretty easy to come up with 10 better guys - and that's without even considering his negative inatgibles that have to take him down a few notches.

I always saw James Lofton as a one dimentional player. I have the least amount of gripe with him out of the three, though.

Al Toon, gtfo. I won't even waste my time.
