Oliver knows his target market. Half of the audience is wearing Spurs gear even during the offseason. I would like to make it down to San Antonio for the event on Saturday but it isn't looking good right now.

New Japan tag matches weren't anything special, they sort of mailed it in. Junior tag match was bananas. Nothing was bad. Good show.

Wow, I really enjoyed that show. A lot infact, in terms of work rate one of the better shows ive seen live. Despite the insane beer lines, which really werent that bad because standing up ended up being a better idea than sitting down, this show was full of energy and the crowd was really into pretty every match. Not sure how it translated on camera, but for me, Strong and Alexander was a really solid match. It was REALLY sad to see how bad Liger was, but not totally unexpected. I still marked out hard when he came out, as did most of the crowd, and it was amazing to get to see him live. Im glad he was protected in a tag match because he does not seem to have much left, and not sure how great of a performance he'll put on tomorrow night vs Cole. The IWGP 3-way was fucking awesome, the work-rate in that match was completely off the charts, and it was easily the best match of the night. Okada was over HUGE with the crowd, as was AJ Styles. This was a really solid match and it was fun to watch these 4 work magic together. The write up said the crowd expected Steen to win, not sure that was the case but he was over big time with the Canadian crowd, much more so than even Liger. Easily the most over wrestler of the night. Match was pretty solid, but ended as expected. If you heard ppl yelling some very unkind things about Kevin Kelly during this match, it was likely me and my people, as the alcohol was really starting to set in at this point. Some handicap guys in the front row were not impressed, and I legit feared for my toes that I was going to get them rolled on after the show.

All in all very fun show, very high work rate all-around, and some really good spots that kept the hot crowd wanting more. Im thinking the show tmrw night might be a little better, but was a was fun show to attend none the less. I tried to snap some good pics of Warner's boy Bobby Fish, but ill have to look thru them tmrw when im sober.

Pretty much what I figured, which was that people new to New Japan would love everything. This was booked with new fans in mind, which was the right thing to do if the goal was to create new fans. It was cool to see Okada so over. That was a surprise to me.

This spot was actually one of my favourite of the night, and got a huge reaction from the crowd. Bennett has having a helluva time carrying Maria out of the arena after the match, that got a laugh out of me.

I was really hoping for more out of the Briscoes, but I guess thats just where they are in terms of storyline currently, not doing much?

You can actually see me in the back of this gif, wearing a red jacket and white hat, standing right beside a dude jumping up and down, marking out hard. By the time the 4-way for the TV title we just abandoned using seats and stood a few rows back from the guard-rail, in hindsight we shouldve done this a lot sooner. Floor seating just wasnt a viable option in this arena.

Steen even got the black guy in the wheel-chair out of his seat, which was impressive.

I had no idea Lethal was a heel.

Best picture of Liger I could snap... while I was waiting in line for beer, of course. I did manage to get a handslap on the aisle after the match, and I did kind of mark out because of this. Any picture I got before the Lethal match was rather piss poor. And of course while the match was going on you dont really want to be paying attention to snapping pictures. This guy standing behind us did stand and record the whole event on his iPad tho, was probably illegally streaming it right from the arena.

Warner, what is up with the lack of crossover big match feels from this NJPW and ROH deal.

When you had Kobashi come here, Joe would gladly eat the pin for a legend. I'm not sure how you don't have TOP ROH guys (like say...a Steen or something) just wanting an opportunity to eat a pin from a Tanahashi instead of that shot going to Michael Bennett of all people.
