Well Fisher is taking the harder gig but call me crazy I see the rams actually contending for the playoffs next season with him at coach in that crap of a division.

Why would anyone call you crazy? The Rams should have made the playoffs last season.

Not a radical statement to say any NFL team could "contend for the playoffs" next season. I mean, the Rams and Bucs in recent years have "contended" for the playoffs.

I didnt like the last hire from day one. I also said the only person I didnt want to get the job this tome around was Fisher.

I loved Martz. I had no problems with the Linehan hire at the time. I had no problems with Vermeil. Same for Rich Brooks, Chuck Knox, and John Robinson. Thats as far back as I go.

Im not a chronic coach basher. But i knew the last guy would be shit, and i think Fisher is very overrated. I never liked him.

Just curious, who would you have wanted to see be the head coach of the Rams next year? (Besides Martz, because that was never going to happen.)

Oh well, we'll see how this works out. Brian f'n Schottenheimer is an awful start, but that's the kind of conservative dinosaur offense Fisher likes, so I shouldnt be shocked.

You could honestly say this about three dozen NFL coaches, especially those with strong nepotism ties like Schott. Once you're in the circle, you pretty much have tenure for life.

I would take Gruden over Fisher easily. But Gruden isn't leaving the press box, so this wasn't realistic. I guess I should have asked of the available head coaches, who would you have selected? I'd put Gruden, Cohwer, Dungy, and Billick all above Fisher, but if they aren't interested in the job, then what's the point?

Honestly, I don't get all of the attention that Billick gets. He's been out of the game since Baltimore, and as an offensive guru, he never impressed me. His offenses were just too bland and he won based off the strength of his defenses, led by Marvin Lewis, Mike Nolan and Rex Ryan.

Mediocre coach if I've ever seen one.

I would have preferred anyone that was available and actively interviewing for jobs this offseason, with the exception of Mike Mularky (horrible hire) or Dom Capers (lol), or a couple of the other retread losers who somehow always get interviews. But the Rams were not going to go the assistant route again, so I understand why Fisher was the guy.

Fisher is better than the retread type guys, but i've been railing on him for a decade going back to MM, so i'm not going to pretend to like him now. I don't think he's a bad coach like your Wade Phillips' or Mularky's or the world, but I think he's always been very overrated, and his four winning seasons in sixteen years is the proof. Take away a miracle play in '99, and what do you have with Fisher? A barely .500 coach who misses the playoffs more than he makes it.

And what scares me about Fisher, is he wants (and will get) total control. He'll hire a puppet GM, he'll run the entire show, and ask Titans fan about Fisher's player evaluations, and you won't get positive answers.

I will let it play out though, this won't be like ***** where you could sniff how bad the hire was from a mile away, and I won't be ranting weekly from Day 1, because this guy has a clue where as ***** never did. Fisher is an upgrade, so we'll see what happens.

Titans Insider says Lake Dawson may be the Rams GM. He worked with Fisher in the past but has never been a GM before.

And Schotty looks to be the Rams new OC.

Proof of that is Mike Holmgren, as his Seahawks did better when he was stripped of his GM role and focused just on the field.

This is a little different than Holmgren. What the Rams want to set up are what teams like the Eagles and Redskins have. The head coach has the ultimate say in regards to personnel. The GM is really there to coordinate scouting, handle contracts and do a lot of the business side so the coach can focus more on the team. Still, the final roster decisions are with the coach.

Since my team is currently in the middle of this system, and because of the mixed bag that we had this season, I can't effectively rate it. I will probably have a better idea this time next year.
