Everything went smooth

I really like the CO OP online where I can play with 5 of my guys from my clan.

For some reason I can't get enter the Abandon map. I redeemed the code from the back of the booklet (Yes I reserved my copy at GS).

The only thing I don't like is that they focused the game on "Standard" mode. I will be playing Classic mode most of the time. I do love my Medley rooms from Socom II. So glad they brought it back but only in respawn rooms. Fuck respawn, go play COD.

New copies of SOCOM 4 contain a one-time use code that upgrades you to "SOCOM Pro," which lets you enter into Pro-only matchmaking queues as well as giving free access to planned content expansions like new guns and weapons down the line. For $14.99, you can upgrade yourself to Pro if you come by the game through any other means than buying a sealed copy.

The way that Sony is hyping it on the blog, anyone who plays multiplayer for more than a week is going to want to have a Pro membership. So don't plan on picking up SOCOM 4 on the cheap if you're into online play on anything more than a casual level.

I'm going to recuse myself from further comment on the matter as the obvious target of this move ultimately signs my checks. Feel free to discuss in the comments.

I played co-op for a good 4 hours last night. That shit is crazy. We played 4 maps with high enemy levels and hard difficulty. It was insane! The AI uses covering fire and tries to flank you all the time.

We had one map where the AI had 6 heavy machine gunners positioned facing the entrance to the map and as soon as we turn the corner all of them opened up on us. So as we take cover two waves of dudes with shotguns rush our position with grenade throwing assholes flushing us from behind some crates. It was frustrating but fun as hell.

Damn, Im loving this game.... Socrack is back!!!

I just hooked back up with my old Socom 2 clan and we had a blast in our first two clan matches.

The maps on this game are gorgeous, I haven't played a map I don't like yet.

Oh... Classics mode is my favorite mode, its the way Socom was meant to be played. Fuck respawns!!!

So a few quick thoughts of the 2-3 hours I spent playing last night:

Pro's

-First off, 32-man team games are pretty awesome considering there was NO lag whatsoever. For the the first day of the servers being up, they were excellent. Felt like I was playing offline.

-Only played like 3 maps (as well as Abandoned)and I gotta say, the maps are pretty sweet so far. Rush Hour & that Von Heisen one are my early favs.

-The sounds (guns firing, explosions, hits) are awesome as they always were in SOCOM. The sound that happens when you get killed just sounds so sick lol.

Cons

-My major gripe is that online is so generic and not as expansive as I'm used to with the SOCOM series. If they went back to the SOCOM 3 style with the mail box, extended stats, leaderboards, etc. it would be awesome.

-No parties, so you just gotta join the game that your buddies are in and pray it's not full.

-I do wish that even the "new" mode that it would keep it the old SOCOM ways where you have to press a button to talk. I've always hated that open air, COD style of talking. Just too cluttered imo. Good news is on Classic games it's still the old style (press up on the d-pad to talk, thought that was a weird placement for it though).

-No lobbies. Again, like COD you just pick a game mode and you go into a random game. This might be my biggest gripe, I loved that you could pick different servers and different games. I'm really hoping they patch this in or something (although I doubt it).

-No character personalizing. Minor I know, but I liked being able to customize your character.

Other than that though, I'm looooving the gameplay and I'm probably hooked like QS stated he already is.

A few things they need to do to improve this shit.

Pull the fucking camera back to the way it always have been. This shit is absolutely to close, especially when it randomly zooms up to your shoulder.

Add shoulder switching. Ive been getting fucked up running around left corners blindly because I cant switch the shoulder view.

Pistols. Add them damnit. 2 primary weapons is lame.

Why the fuck doesnt classic mode have 16 man small maps and respawn does? Patch this shit.

Im back to my AzzholeByNature tag BTW, Shit is banned across EA servers but I can use it for every other game.

How do you unlock all the weapons and attachments? I need silencers.

Back for like 3 weeks. How is this, should I get it?
