Ricochet & Nation reconciled after their matching, shaking their hands & embracing. The moment was quickly spoiled by MAD BLANKEY. YAMATO challenged Ricochet to a title match. Nation responded by kicking him in the face. He said if anyone wants to get to Ricochet, they have to go through him. YAMATO said he can't speak any english, but he thinks his got the gist of what he said. A singles match between the two was set for the 4/8 Korakuen.

So what are we thinking? I'm thinking SUWAMA goes through Bono in Block A, then beats Akiyama in the final. This sets him up for Bono nicely, and I think he'll win. Bono is being pushed like a monster so SUWAMA beating him twice + Akiyama is as strong of a push they can give with the current roster.

Also, where did they dig up the bodies of Kendo Kashin & Osamu Nishimura? Jeez.

This was good, not great. It never fully grabbed me. Victim of expectations probably, closing stretch would blow minds on a North American show but it's old hat here.

The pre & post match stuff was really strong. Loved the opening music video.
 
Thought i posted here but I guess I didn't. I'm in the same camp as you. I enjoyed it but it doesn't sniff my top 10 this year, didn't give me the same excitement as Mochizuki/Yoshino and while the closing sequence was really good, it wasn't enough to put it over the top for me.
 
Suzuki vs Nakamura
Fale vs Shelton

I don't like the idea of tossing away Nak/Okada this soon. I think winning G1 has more impact to rehab Nak and slow build to the Okada match.

Fale sucks and I don't want to see him in main events.

Everybody is mad about Shelton beating Shibata, but i'm more upset about the idea of Fale potentially winning. I have no problem with Shleton getting a time killer title shot, because he can have good matches with the top guys. I think Fale is the weakest full time worker they have. He bores me.
 
 
So...Nakamura beat Fale in an apparently good match. Nak was bleeding, saw conflicting tweets about whether it was a blade job.

Then...Shinsuke picked Tanahashi to fight on 4/6. Guess this means Fale gets Okada, tho I didn't see it explicitly said.

Not a blade job. Fale fell on top of him and crushed his face, likely breaking his nose.

Fale sucks, i'm glad he lost. I guess we'll find out today if he faces Okada. I sure hope not.

I have no problem with Nak/Tanahashi again, because I didn't want Nak/Okada this fast on a two week build.

First half of the year...Nakamura/Tanahashi with Nakamura trying to slay the beast...he doesn't...he wins G1...everyone thinks he goes for Tanahashi, but says "fuck this...OKADA"...crowd goes Bananerz...DOME...wins all around.
 
If NJPW is serious about a brand split down the line, they should think about making an offer for All Japan. Meltzer said they are 40% up in revenue again this year, and All Japan bleeds red. Maybe that new owner is tired of losing money now that the honeymoon is over. Akebono, Jun Akiyama, Go Shiozaki, & SUWAMA are all many years worth of fresh matches for the top New Japan guys.

So, Devitt is apparently heading to WWE after next weekend, as his 4/6 match with Ryusuke Taguchi is loser leaves town.

Not exactly 1993, but whatever.

So what are we thinking? I'm thinking SUWAMA goes through Bono in Block A, then beats Akiyama in the final. This sets him up for Bono nicely, and I think he'll win. Bono is being pushed like a monster so SUWAMA beating him twice + Akiyama is as strong of a push they can give with the current roster.

Also, where did they dig up the bodies of Kendo Kashin & Osamu Nishimura? Jeez.

Killed some time today by watching some of the 3/21 NOAH show from Korakuen. Some of the undercard stuff was surprisingly good. The NJPW vs NOAH young boy match between Sho Tanaka & Hitoshi Kumano was really fun (CRAB HOLD OF DEATH). Jonah Rock (a TMDK guy from Australia) vs Super Crazy was very good. Xtra Large (from Peru, I believe. One of the guys KENTA scouted and brought back) vs Daisuke Harada was good, too.

Hadn't seen a lot of these NOAH imports & youngsters lately because I blow off NOAH a lot, but these guys are improving.
