Monaco striker Park Chu-Young will complete a move to Premier League side Arsenal this weekend.

The South Korea captain, who has made over 91 appearances for the French club, is on his way to London for a medical in the next 24 hours.

Park was a former target for Premier League rivals Fulham.

The 26-year-old had completed a medical to sign for French side Lille, but a call from Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has prompted him head to London.

Lille were surprised on Saturday at the disappearance of Park, who failed to show up for the second part of his medical having agreed terms to join the French champions.

Lille president Michel Seydoux said: "We haven't had a telephone call, nothing.

"From what we understand he could be at Arsenal," the Lille boss said.

Park had been due at the northern French side to continue with the traditional pre-signing medical which he had begun on Friday.

"Like Monaco, Lille are baffled," added Seydoux, adding: "Everything [about his move] had been agreed."

Park scored an own goal in a 4-1 defeat by Argentina at the 2010 World Cup. However, he redeemed himself in South Korea's next match against Nigeria by scoring a crucial free-kick in a 2-2 draw, allowing the Koreans to advance to the round of 16.

Arsenal will this week land Bolton star Gary Cahill – despite the ill-feeling between the clubs.

The Gunners will go in with a fresh *£12million bid which could rise to around£15m with any international and club *honours won by *Cahill over the course of a five-year contract.

And the indications are that Cahill will be an Arsenal *player before the transfer *window closes as Wenger is determined to bolster his defence with a player of proven Premier League experience.

The bad blood between the clubs spilled over on Friday when Trotters chairman Phil Garside retweeted a fan’s *message: “Are you taking the p***?” £6m for Gary Cahill – f*** right off!”

Gartside later deleted the post, but Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger responded by saying the offer was more.

Watching the Swansea-Sunderland match for some unknowable reason... I am aware it ends in a nil-nil draw and its a decent match but nothing special. Enjoy watching Vorm in gola - he made a few more nice saves in this one.

Cahill would be a nice addition to that defense, and someone of M'Vila's quality wouldn't hurt in midfield. They have Song and Frimpong looks solid, but he's awfully young. I would be happy if those two come in, but I won't get excited until its on the club's website. Not sure what to make of the Park Chu-Young addition. Sounds like he's a solid enough player, but another creative striker doesn't really seem to be what Arsenal need... I would rather see a pure goal poacher, someone along the lines of Javier Hernandez who can come on as a sub and is a danger to grab a late one...
