Mets shouldn't scrap it, especially when you have a glut named Jason Bay eating up payroll, along with Santana.
If anything the lone piece I could see them trading is K-Rod, then maybe acquiring a Mike Adams to close until the end of the year or until they feel Parnell can become that closer.
It's not like the Mets are OLD everywhere. They have Ike Davis, Tejada/Turner/Murphy, Reyes, Wright, Pagan, Thole, Gee, Dickey, Niese, Parnell, Beato as a solid core. These guys, outside of Wright and Reyes are cost controlled and mostly effective MLB players. And all, besides Dickey and Pagan are under 30 years old. (Dickey extended his career by about 5-7 years with his knuckleball effectiveness).
Most of this team is young or in their prime. If anything you re-tool and that's what I feel the Mets will do.
Reyes won't be traded...
Beltran...depends on how well the team is...if they are close, I think they will stand pat.
Obviously you want to add to the minor league system which is coming up slowly but don't deplete the MLB team unnecessarily...it would be stupid for a large market team to lose a player...IN IT'S PRIME. Either we are large market, or they operate like the Royals or something.
and I truly hope Pelf is traded although he's a workhorse...he's just too inconsistent and he's going up against the top pitchers in the game...
