Regards to the comics

 

Yea. I can legit sees the Governor being more than 1 season. It goes by pretty quick in the comics, but with the tv show they can flesh out some of the things they have him do and shit that would be fantastic. Even give him more of a back-story and mystery behind him. I can see the gladiator type game being a 2-3 episode arc by itself yet it goes by so damn quick in the comics. The entire thing with his daughter, ect.

NOTE: DO NOT READ MY SPOILER UNLESS YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT HAPPENS FROM THE COMICS OR YOU WANT TO POTENTIALLY RUIN THE NEXT SEASON OR TWO OF THE SHOW FOR YOURSELF. IF YOU GET PISSED, IT IS YOUR FAULT.

 

I definitely see them fleshing out the Governor more than in the comic books. Considering they were willing to make an entire book about the pre-story of the guy, they could definitely spend more time on him. Especially considering how long he kidnaps the group for, so even if they don't do the background stuff, he could still have a lot of airtime. Although to be fair, I think he could last for more than a season even without the background stuff considering when he comes back for revenge on the prison, Lori already has the baby and is promptly killed off. They have a lot to tackle in the next few seasons just at the prison.

- Getting to the prison.
- The murder mystery subplot
- The aftermath of it and Rick killing Dex
- The rebuilding of the farm inside the prison/the clearing out of the prison
- The following of the helicopter/searching the surrounding land
- The entire kidnapping including Rick's recovery
- The mole subplot
- The birth subplot
- The Carol going crazy and eventually committing suicide subplot

Eventually, it all ends with the Governor coming back? That to me doesn't seem like it could fit into one season, although I hear the next one will be 20 episodes. I almost cannot see it being possible to fit into that span. Plus, right now, the show is on issue 12 or so, the Governor doesn't even appear until issue 27 and the issue he invades the prison is like 47. No way are they going to do 35 issues next season.

There is a whole book already written about the Governor's back story called Rise of the Governor. The writing was terrible, felt like it was ripped right out of the TV scripts. Wouldn't be surprised if it was.

It was rough, but I think it made the Governor seem even more villainous. The fact he takes over his brother's identity after he kills him is fucking awesome and sadly, believable for people to do after the world effectively ends.

I honestly can't see them cutting off Ricks hand. If anything, I can see a main side character getting his hand cut off. But if they did cut off his hand, how awesome would it be if Merle joined this group and was the one to do it.

Thats what I did today. My wife actually started watching the show on Netflix a couple of weeks back and tried to get me into it. She always wanted to watch it while we were eating and I didn't want to see zombies taking a bite out of people, so I never watched it. I dl'd up to issue 86 but haven't looked for the remaining 6-7 comics....I'm on issue 13.

I imagined it playing out with the first half of next season being them in the prison and all that jazz, Rick killing Dex. Then at the point I'm assuming they'll do the mid-season break would be when we meet the Governor.

After that I see the season ending one or two ways. The first being Rick getting his hand chopped off, probably by Merle rather than the Governor. The other possibility is it goes a little further and we end with the Governor rolling up in his tank on the prison and all hell breaking loose and only knowing for sure that Rick and Carl are alive. Or just the tank rolling up and then end scene.

I just think the Governor has to be in a significant role next season to really keep the momentum up. We're definitely getting into the best part of the story like JHight said.

If they condense some of the stuff, they might be able to add in the famous line at the end of the first block "Well stranger, we're feeding them strangers." Just cut to black and everyone goes crazy in TV world.

Show the gladiator stuff, Michonne being raped constantly, and Glen being emotionally distraught and they could fill a few episodes. Have Rick win a couple matches, then the Governor takes off his hand. Show some background stuff and the Governor's crazy ass jars. Show him feeding his hand to his daughter, maybe let Rick get out of Woodbury at the very end, but show Martinez obviously being an accomplice to set up the next season.
