Steel Mamba
Nasty
I agree Mamba, Strikeforce doesnt promote or hype well, 1 reason is because they rely on Showtime to do this, thats how they work, they are a premium channel, its a different animal, so you wont see UFC type hype
but my question is why people who 'know' MMA act the way they do towards Strikeforce and the other shows that are not under the Zuffa banner
Look at the WEC, they do as bad of if not worse than Strikeforce except when they did a PPV, there last show averaged like 315,000 on a channel that is in 80 million homes, Strikeforce always averages that and peaks much higher on a channel that is only in 20 million homes and a pay channel
So why is WEC covered by the MMA media like they are gold?
It depends on what you're comparing the WEC against. The media definitely covers SF CBS and any non-challenger card far better than the typical WEC event, aside from a few of the big title fights. But, again even in the WEC their fighters are made into stars, they tell their stories, and do a great job of explaining to the media and fans what makes some of these guys so special.
I think SF needs to scrap the Challengers series entirely. Start doing more shows, and put the developing talent on the under cards. I understand trying to build these guys, but if no one is watching them, then you're not building them.
Jon Jones was put on GSP vs Penn 2 and exposed to millions, that's how you build a fighter.
The UFC also has more inside access type shows. The had the ones with Rachel Leah where they followed a fighter around for a day, the do preview shows for every event, and the 24/7 thing for the big cards. The show that they're doing for the boxing tournament is the same type of thing that they need for SF.
& more CBS events. As far as that goes tho I think these guys are just using SF, CBS doesn't need MMA. But, Sho is in desperate need of some help in order to keep up with HBO, so they're really just trying to bolster Sho and throwing SF a bone every now and then with CBS.
