Why are a bunch of people basing their views and opinions on Quarterbacks solely off playoff wins?
Now before you ask yourself "wTF LuLz is this guy retarded PLAYOFF WINZ OR BUST!!111!!!"
I'm not dumb. Playoff wins are extremely important in order to get to the Super Bowl.
However I think 99% of this forum is taking this topic to the extreme.
The NFL is a team sport with 53 people on every team. Each team is broken down into 3 separate squads. There is Offense, Defense, and Special Teams.
If 2 of those 3 squads are not playing well. That team is probably going to lose.
I'm going to keep typing, correct me if I'm wrong.
Now before I say what I'm about to say, I'd like to let everyone know I'm not a Colts lover, or Bears lover, or Saints lover, and I have no bias towards any team or player I am about to mention.
I just saw a post that to me, made it sound like that poster was mildly retarded.
It dealt with with one person basically saying Drew Brees sucks, and it said something similar to "maybe I'll consider Brees good when he wins one more playoff game"
Now what the fuck is that supposed to mean? lol. Seriously guys if you're letting 1 pesky Wildcard Round Playoff victory alter how good you think one player is you have to be a moron.
Drew Brees is definitely a top 5 Quarterback, and he has proved it throughout his career in the NFL.
Yeah he may have never won a Super Bowl but he's never had a team worthy of even sniffing the Lombardi Trophy. If the Saints even come close to it happening people should realize it's because he brought us there. Lets not shit on him for giving us hopes, and not pull through.
I guess my point is that it takes 53 people to win a game. Not 1 guy.
For instance Peyton Manning. For his first 7 years in the NFL he didn't win in the Playoffs. However there was no doubt in anyones mind that for those same 7 years he was either the best, or second best Quarterback in the league. Now when Peyton got over the hump of finally winning in the playoffs it wasn't because he instantly got better. It was because the rest of his team played better. Freeney, Brock, and Mathis with an outstanding pass rush. Gary Brackett intercepting Tom Brady in the AFC Championship. Peyton finally had a supporting cast, and the Colts got over the hump.
Also if it wasn't for their defense forcing a fumble, and Mike Vanderjagt missing a field goal in the AFC Championship against the Steelers. Peyton could have won another Super Bowl against the Seahawks.
It's a team effort. You can't solely blame one person for losing a game unless...
They pull a Rex Grossman, and throw INT after INT after INT.
Even then it's still a team effort because Sexy Rexy would have never even sniffed the Playoffs if it wasn't for Devin Hester and the Special Teams unit taking 6 TDs back that year, along with one of the best defenses of the decade.
Could Eli Manning have a ring on his finger if it wasn't for Umenyiora, Tuck, Robbins, and that amazing pass rush?
Could Trent Dilfer, or Brad Johnson have rings on their fingers if it wasn't for their defenses?
Are you people who are so wrapped up in this "playoff win" ranking system all believers that Kerry Collins is better than Aaron Rodgers because he has more playoff wins?
Truthfully what's the difference between losing in the AFC Championship game, and losing in the Wildcard round? There is no difference(except for a better draft pick). Everyones goal is to win a Super Bowl, and 31 Quarterbacks fail every year.
I guess the moral of my rant is that some people need to get a fucking clue.
And never take your good Quarterback for granted. With a little help this may be his year.
