You do realize he threw 8 TD's in those games right? When your scoring 50 pts by yourself in 3 games and your team loses, there has to be more going on.

Carolina: If the Saints can force just one turnover, or stalled out one of the six scoring drives Carolina put together the Saints win that game...unfortunately the Saints have a shitty D and don't come away with a win.

Bucs: Brees facing a good Bucs D, drove twice in the fourth quarter for 10 points, but trailed by 3 late in the game. Two of Brees three pick came late in the fourth when Tampa was playing the pass like a bunch of chicken hawks.

Atlanta: In a game where NO averaged 6.1 yds per rush it's obvious they should have pounded the rock more. But Payton play live or die by the pass, and went to the air too often when Atlanta was backup up defenders in coverage all game. Obviously Payton should have game planned better. So again NO trails late and has to put the ball into the air to catch up...hence 2 INT's and 2 TD's in the 4th quarter. And again...NO leaves the game with zero takaways...Shitty D can't hold Atlanta off the scoreboard.

Atlanta Game 2: For fairness sakes, NO played Atlanta again. What was different? The Saints finally had some D. They took the ball away and stalled Atlanta out on a few drives that they didn't before that. Brees didn't have to play from behind and wasn't throwing deep game enders in the 4th quarter.

Payton sucks. Saints D sucks. The luxury of great QB's like Brady are they have excellent D's. They win because when they turnover the football they have a defense that can clutch the fuck up and get some turnovers...hell maybe possibly put some points on the board themselves. Oh and they have coaches that put these teams together, scheme offense and defense well, and adapt their game plan to win...Payton has one gameplan...and his gameplan is Brees.

EVERY Loss is Payton's fault.

Well, I'm in the camp that you can't judge QB's solely off playoff wins and losses, but you can on playoff and big game performances. If a QB throws ints in these big games it says something about them.

I don't judge Bart Starr, Joe Montana on just playoff w's, but I do on how they performed in those games. This is my one big knock on Brett Favre. As much as I loved the guy, he had major brain cramps in some really big games. Great QB, well, great regular season QB. He was an average playoff QB. In GB you took the Great with the not so great and still loved having him on the team.

Brees hasn't even shown he is an average QB in big/playoff games. Unlike Nuke, I think he can, but he hasn't so far.

Brees needs to come up mistake free in these games.

You obviously didn't see Palmers 4th quarter come from behind drive late in the game did you...the one he managed to drive 91 yards with six strait completions, including his last completion that hit Caldwell at the 6 Inch line, and ended with a TD to take the lead. What would have been the win if not for the flukish 87 yd play by stokely off a rare tip play with less than half a minute on the clock...in other words Palmer did take the lead. If anybody is to blame in this game it's the Bungals D for allowing Denver to score. I blame coaching for not making sure there were at least two deep to stop that kind of shit from happening. :tocktock:

Exactly my point...you can't lean on a QB too often. Especially when your entire team sucks as bad as the Saints does. But it's Payton's gameplan, if the team isn't winning he needs to fix something, and Brees for sure isn't the problem.

And in those game his D had what, 1 takeaway? He doesn't get 7 picks if his team doesn't trail late in those games. If the Saints are winning late in the 4th quarter you can take away at least 3 of those picks...and the Saints can't be up in the 4th quarter without D. Think people think...it's not just stats. gameplan, coaching, scheming, situations. You have to coach/play in the moment. You can't coach after the game. Payton has to do something else with that D in order to get some more wins, and as that happens you'll see less picks from Brees because he won't be putting the ball in the air as much late in games. I like this comparison of HOF QB's and Favre (who is obviously one foot in the HOF door). But the difference in winning the big games were obviously coaching. Who was Montana's coach? Starr's coach? Favre's coach? And how many super bowls do those coaches have? Now tell me how Payton's teams stack up against those teams? exactly. It's a lot more to do with a fully functional teams than simply QB's.

That drive had a lot to do with Denver falling back into the soft zone that killed us last year. If you saw the entire game you saw Palmer (with a lot of help from his receivers terrible hands) play a terrible football game, often times costing his team points. I think both INTs were on our side of the 50. That makes a difference in a 12-7 game.

Um no. Palmer's first pick was on Denver's 27 on a 3rd and 6. In the scheme of the game it's no worse than a punt. Sure you want to end the drive with points, but it didn't kill the Bengals at that point.

The second pick was AFTER the fluke deep play. Ok...so now it's hail marry time and it ends in a pick. Was it Palmer's fault Denver scored with 30 seconds left to take the lead? No. Can you blame Palmer for losing for not driving 82 yards with 10 seconds left? :laugh:

Yeah both those picks weren't even the main reason they lost.

Palmer was 0-4 last year playing Baltimore (Excellent D), Tennessee (Excellent D and the hottest team last year), Giants (Great D and the previous SB champs) Dallas (Solid D and playoff worthy team), while the Bengals are hot trash. So fuck that noise as well.

He did alright actually. 63.6% completion rate on 33 passes, for 247 yards. Had what would have been the game winning drive, and if Coldwell would have stuck the ball out an inch Palmer would have ended the day with a TD and a 71.1 QB rating. So he had one interception in the first half, big deal, QB's throw picks. And I don't blame Palmer for heaving a throw away hail marry at the end of that game.

And show me the team with an NFL caliber kicker who can't hit a FG from the 27, that right there makes that Cincy TD at the end of the game the nail in Denver's coffin and the Stokley play never happens. But I guess what happens early in the game has no bearing on the final outcome of the game either.

Yeah because Denver won by 5 points, and FG's count as more than 3 points when they are kicked on the 27 yd line...:tocktock:
And you're not understanding what I said in the first place. I said that yes you want to score there, but coming away with a pick in that spot didn't kill the Bengals. Point was proven when Palmer drove down the field late in the game and the Bengals took the lead with 32 second left in the game...so no, that pick didn't ruin the Bengals chances to win. It didn't help, ok, but the extreme isn't true either, the pick didn't cost them the game at that point.

P.S - I believe Chad Pennington outplayed him in a game earlier in the year, as well, when New York beat San Diego the first time... IF my memory serves me correctly, Brees got picked twice in that one.

Oh I don't know about that, I remember the same shit said about McNabb back in 03-04, I think McNabb's was worse. 51.0 rating to start the 03 season over 6 games.

And it's been said that QB rating is one of the most overrated stats in all of sports.

And I'm not saying Palmer is great, I'm just saying he's not one of the worst QB's like Nuk claims. I hate Palmer, I'm a Steelers fan. But the Bengals losses have a lot to do with that team blowing up like soda pop under heat and pressure.
