screw tiger. hot shots golf needs to come out with a new game.

They at least need to patch trophies into their last game.

I got Tiger Woods 10 and I remember playing in the league here where you had to shoot -25 in two rounds on the hardest difficulty in order to get anywhere near the top of the group. Was so unrealistic and so easy it got boring real fast. The same two people won all the time, shooting -14 rounds each time, so basically once you par 5 holes, you might as well pack it in for the day.

Golf is one of those games I'll buy every 4 years, since nothing really changes much. It's the same swing, same courses and basically, you can't make things much more "real" in golf games. It still all comes down to how far you pull the stick back for shot power.

thats why i like the pc version, plenty of user made courses that are free. there was a community website that had year round tournaments. i just received a copy of tw 08 (pc) for 5 bucks.

im not gonna get my hopes up for that but id love to see a new game. i would say put out more DLC (which they did do a great job of) but the game is old. they are constantly putting out new games for the psp but the ps3 hasnt seen anything new. hot shots is nowhere near a sim golf game, but it doesnt claim to be. its just a fun game. tiger on the other hand claims to be sim, but seeing people here talk about it, it doesnt seem like that is the case, and it loses its fun factor rather quick.

Last year Tiger Woods PGA 11 introduced the Ryder Cup to the franchise, and I was pretty meh about it. Maybe it's because the Ryder Cup doesn't get a lot of publicity over here, or maybe it's because Tiger Woods has consistently sucked at it. But this year Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 has a new tournament and I am genuinely excited. Golf games have finally got The Masters Tournament, and it's about damn time.

So why is the Master's Tournament so important? There are four major golf championships in the world: The US Open, The Open Championship, the PGA Championship, and the Master's Tournament. The Masters is considered the most prestigious of the four. But The Masters has never been in a Tiger Woods PGA game, which is kind of ridiculous. Imagine if NCAA Football had every bowl game except The Rose Bowl. Or if Virtua Tennis didn't include Wimbledon. Whether you realize it or not, this is what comes to mind when you think of golf. The green jackets, the intense rivalries. Homages and parodies have been in numerous films over the years.

But the Masters Tournament is especially important because this is Tiger Woods PGA. Do you remember when Woods exploded into fame and changed America's perception of golf back in 1997? That was because of the Master's Tournament. At the age of 21 he set a new score record of 18 under par, which is still the course record, and he won by a margin of 12 strokes .In golf terms, he effin' destroyed his competition. He became not only the youngest Masters Tournament winner, but also the first African-American and first Asian-American. Oh, and he broke or tied 26 other course records, basically making Jack Nicklaus' entire career look easy. The Master's Tournament is Tiger Woods' defining moment.

The entire Career mode for the game is based around earning that coveted invitation to the Masters. You play through Amateur and Professional tours, earning your way into higher ranked tournaments. The better you perform, the faster you rank, but the game is designed to be beatable no matter your skill level.

Much like how NBA 2K11 let you relive some of Michael Jordan's most iconic playoff games, Tiger Woods PGA Golf lets you replay all four of Tiger's Master Tournament wins, as well as famous wins from other golfing greats like Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson, and Sam Snead. The Augusta National Golf Club -- the home of the tournament -- has been painstakingly recreated, with heavy input from the owners of the Club. I only got to see a little bit of the course, but it looks gorgeous. The lighting, the grass, and everything else looks amazing.

One of the other major things keeping Tiger Woods PGA Tour feeling more like a game about golf and not a full golf experience was the lack of caddies. Sure, that doesn't sound like a big deal, but caddies are an integral part of the sport (hell, there have been entire movies about caddies ). The way caddies have been integrated into the game is as a new tool that helps you decide shots. As I was playing a hole, the caddy gave me a couple shot ideas that I could select. The game would automatically angle me and set everything up, so all I had to do was swing. It's a neat feature that definitely makes the game more accessible, though I imagine most major players are going to want to fine tune their shots themselves.

The Tiger Woods games have always been solid golf sims, but the series has finally taken considerable steps into being a fully immersive and complete golf experience. The Masters Tournament is an extremely important golf tournament, and its inclusion is awesome for this game. The Caddies are essentially glorified auto shot programs, but they also provide an extra level of realism and community to Tiger Woods PGA Golf.

All of EA Sports doesn't do enough in the yearly cycle, it's the Peter Moore way.

Then again, only NBA 2K has proven what can be accomplished in a yearly cycle....which has pretty much shown up every other sports title out there.

Not that I expect that to actually influence these pubs/devs to find ways to get more done in the yearly cycle....only to find ways to nickel and dime loyal customers to make up for those that have given up. Funny how it all works eh?

Anyway, I might dive back into this game and give the Masters a go, but I'll wait for reviews to tell me that it's not worth it and just keep playing MLB.

And I can't stand the damn caddy. He gets turned off the second I start playing this game.
If I had a caddy yack that much while I was on the course, I'd punch him in the face then fire him Shooter McGavin style.
The demo seems pretty cool.

I didn't get last years edition (usually get TW every other year), so I'm looking at this game, NASCAR The Game 2011 and WWE All Star. I'll pick one of those 3 up when I get back from Chicago. Need to try out the demo but I'll look at reviews and VSN to see if it's worth getting it this year.
