Arguably AA is also better.. aswell as guys like Monsoon, Gonzaga and Aleks. Im certain everyone on the above list would smash Sylvia, even before this Mercer fight. You should know ive always felt this way about Tim, if he didnt lay on his opponents against the cage all the time he wouldnt have even won all the fights he did. Hes huge so he packs some power if he catches you.. but hes extra sloppy and has been exposed many times. Hes officially off the HW map completely now.

I'd argue against Congo, Velasqeuz, and Werdrum. They would have a chance, but they are not obvious wins. I'm like Rob - I really really dislike Sylvia, but I'm not going to say he's atrocious in the cage because of my preference.

I think Monsoon could beat Tim a second time but Tim's size might be too much for him. Still, I think Monsoon's a better fighter than Tim. At his best.. Tim was a pretty decent fighter. Pretty boring but still decent. But hes fallen off pretty bad and hasnt had a noteable win in quite some time (since beating Monsoon, dont tell me Brandon Vera is a noteable win pls).

I hate to really get into this resume shit too.. bcus a lot of the guys I mentioned are young and havent faced the stiff comp. yet.. but Tim's only real noteable wins are against Jeff, AA, Ricco and I guess Mike Whitehead and Ben Rothwell if you wanna throw those in.. and most of those (Ricco, Whitehead, Rothwell) were over 5 years ago. Even the win against Jeff, which was a less than impressive lay and pray win, was 3 years ago. So I think its pretty fair for me to say Tim hasnt been a top 10 fighter for a while now.

I do credit Tim for fighting top talent in the last few years.. but it was bcus o name and rep.. and he got worked against all the top fighters in the division.

of course when you fight the best you will lose, most guys will, tims last 3 were against the best HWs in the world

Tim has the proven track record and wins, Cain, Carwin, Rogers, etc..havent done much, do I think they are good fighters? yes, should they be a favorite over Tim in a fight? probably not

I love Overeem, but what has he done in the HW division? Wredum probably couldnt get Tim down and he couldnt strike with him

I already said, they're young fighters, they're not going to have as much of a chance to have a track record. It doesnt change anything. They'd smash Tim. He might have a chance against Cain but I doubt it. Carwin and Brett would smash Tim. Hes washed up big time.

And that's a big part of what makes Sylvia so dangerous. The dude is huge. His individual skillset isn't massively impressive, but you cannot separate that from his size advantage. Anymore than you could for Lesnar. Sylvia is one of the few fighters that Lesnar wouldn't have a sized advantage over (though I think Brock is more powerful). Sylvia would have a notable size advantage over the likes of Kongo or Velaquez. Size is obvously is not always the deciding factor in a fight, but it helps, especially when a fighter is able to use it to their advantage like Sylvia can.

As for Velasquez, Kongo tagged him several times and only ended the fight. How is Cain going to do against someone notably bigger than him that can tag him with that power and is much tougher to get to ground? I like Velasquez a great deal more than Sylvia, but I couldn't logically take Cain in that fight at this point.

Sylvia doesn't have the quickest hands, but he throws with power and his reach makes him tough to strike with. He isn't easy to get to ground. His size makes it tough to control him - Couture managed it, but he was also managing to control Lesnar.
