Top 10 NFL Games of the 2000s

As usual with lists like these, it really should be "The Top 10 Finishes Of The 90's".

Neither Rams SB was a great game, IMO. Great finishes, yes.

The best games of the Rams Greatest Show Era were:

-Rams/Broncos MNF Season Opener 2000
-Rams/Bucs MNF Dec 2000 (this was the best game of the decade, easily)
-Rams/Saints Week 17 2000
-Rams/Saints Wild Card Game the next week
-Rams/Panthers 2003 Divisional Playoff (2 OT's)

I was gonna say this. The "1-yard short" Super Bowl was terribly boring until the last 5 minutes. And the Pats-Rams SB was just New England running quarters coverage and mugging the WRs all game. And as far as game-winning plays go, a FG is pretty far down the list.

Those Rams-Saints playoff games were great in the early 2000s. before the realignment that was starting to become a really intense rivalry. I like the NFC South rivalries we have now, but part of me kind of misses the old NFC West when the Falcons, Saints and Panthers were with St. Louis and San Francisco.

I remember in the DOuble OT game when the Rams went for the onside and got it I Fing hyped.

Or during the NO game how the rams came all the way back and Warner made last TD throw

Where the Refs and Rex (calling a Time out) blow the game and then Boller throws a last minute bomb thats caught at the 1 and stopped.

This game is huge because It's at the peak of the Colts - Patriots Rivalry.

Indianapolis had just started edging out New England in regular season match ups, but the allure of "cool" Tom Brady and his playoff prowess was still considered tops in the NFL and Indianapolis along with Peyton Manning were still trying to shake the strongly held opinion that they were really just choke artists when it really mattered (the playoffs)

your implications are already there, this is the AFC championship, Indianapolis is one step away from getting there, and they have to go against the team that has for the most part owned them the past 5 years and beat them the last time they went to the AFC championship game.

Manning has to beat Brady to take control of the AFC,

but that's just the shit before.

When the game starts, New England makes it look like it's going to be a blowout, Indy goes into the locker room at half time on their asses and it's looking like the same old shit, Then Indianapolis comes out in the second half and puts up the greatest comeback in AFC Championship game history.

The Game was great

The Implications were great

and #3 is a perfect spot for the game.

i agree. This list seems to be mistaking memorable games with great games. There are to many games on this list where controversy or sloppy play translated into a memory of the game.

The Giants-Pats Superbowl and the Steelers-Cardinals Superbowl should be the top two and really they're inter changeable.

I think a lot of the time with articles like this they only factor in great plays, rather than great games. You could argue that for the Giants-Pats game as well but it did have a lot going for it in regard to what was at stake.

How is it the "peak" of the rivalry? Just because the Colts won? LOL at it being the peak of the rivalry when New England was a 4 seed that year in the playoffs.

The game was a sloppy pile of shit for the 1st half for one side and a sloppy pile of shit for the other team in the 2nd half. Nothing about that game came off as "great". Manning beat Brady. Good for Indy and good for him.

The Pats/Giants SB shits on this game. The tuck rule shits on this game. The Pats/Panthrs SB shits on this game. I'm willing to bet heavy money that outside of Colts fans people saw this game and remembered barely anything about it. It wasn't a "great game", it was each team playing like shit for a half.

I'm not sure where I'd rank the Colts-Pats game to be honest

I feel like it deserves a top 10 spot but I may just be overrating it as a fan of the team that won

It had a great finish and the storyline of backups stepping up and making plays when it mattered most but other then that I can see why people might not have liked it. Both teams were better in years past [Colts in 05 were MUCH better on paper, Pats in their superbowl seasons also]
